Michael Jordan’s mother, known in many nations as “She Who Did Birth His Airness”, is spending time in Africa on philanthropic missions. AllAfrica.com has the scoop on her work in Kenya and her many other accomplishments.
Mrs Jordan, a grandmother of 11 children, is also an internationally renowned speaker and has worked with America’s former Vice-President Al Gore at his Family Reunion Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
Today, she serves on the boards of LaRibida Children’s Hospital and Research Centre, The Jordan Family Institute, Audrey Hepburn Hollywood for Children Foundation, (Honorary Chair), the Foundation for Peace and Stability in Liberia, Inc, the University of Chapel Hill School of Social Work and Jordan Universal Marketing Products, Inc.
The 91st general assembly of the State of Illinois declared October 24, 1999, to be Deloris Jordan Day in the State of Illinois.
Yeah, it’s decent work if you can get it. On Michael’s growing pains:
Every Saturday, [Michael] would follow his brothers, Larry and Ronnie, to the park hoping they would let him play and they always did. . . but there was one problem: his name was Mark. He was the tallest boy on the court and always teased him, what’s the matter Mikey, too short?” recalled Mrs Jordan.
Good move, Mark. I’m sure he doesn’t regret that every morning of the last 20+ years at all, huh? Yeah, there’s really no jokes here. It’s a good article.
