As we race toward the fall, YAYbasketball! takes a look back at the hits, misses, and majesty of the various charity and fantasy camps held by your favorite NBA stars this summer.
Peja and Vlade’s camp is always a big success, this year featuring interpretive dance. Casual smoking isn’t required, but is encouraged.
NBA Legend Rick Barry wants you to live, eat, talk, breathe, and dream basketball with him in California’s wine country. Yeah, Iwe aren’t sure about that one, either.
The 76ers hold what look like some really nice basketball camps for kids, but we think we’ll try out this one, instead.
Damon Stoudamire held his youth camp in Portland this month. You can find some fascinating info at his website. Oops, we mean his other website.
Michael Jordan’s much-praised Las Vegas Flight School is going on right this very week. YAYbasketball! would kill to be there, despite being too young and about $14,957 short. Regardless, let’s send us next year.
A hugely successful program that has actually spawned franchises is Robert “Tractor” Traylor’s camp. We understand he spends most of the summer and even parts of the season at them.
