We swear Carmelo Anthony is going to give us a heart attack if he keeps this up. We literally can’t breathe correctly after reading that he’s going on Wheel of Fortune. This can’t air soon enough.
Carmelo Anthony of Denver, Ray Allen of Seattle, Baron Davis of Golden State and Luke Walton of the Los Angeles Lakers are among 15 NBA and WNBA players teaming up with “Wheel of Fortune” to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The players will tape shows Thursday for the game show’s NBA week, airing Oct. 31-Nov. 4.
Each player will be partnered with a fan from their team’s city, and the fans will play for cash and NBA-themed prizes.
Other NBA stars scheduled to play are: Amare Stoudamire of Phoenix, Richard Hamilton of Detroit, Mike Bibby of Sacramento, Emeka Okafor of Charlotte, Ben Gordon of Chicago, Robert Horry of San Antonio, Richard Jefferson of New Jersey, and Bobby Simmons of Milwaukee.
This is a pretty nice line-up they’ve gathered. Baron Davis and his grind. Amare, who’s likely to tear the wheel right off. Mike Bibby, who if you’ve never heard talk, sounds something like a Muppet. It’ll be our first chance to really get to know Bobby Simmons, which we expect will be a pleasure.
The absolute highlight will be Melo, though. We’re all aware of his excellent music video with Ciara and a horse. If you’ve never seen his Punk’d episode, it’s gold. Melo seems to live in a state of melancholy confusion, and there’s no way this isn’t classic television. We haven’t watched the Wheel since 1953, but you’re all invited over for this one.
