Kevin Garnett is not going to LA

by The Cavalier on September 26, 2005 · 17 comments

kobekg.jpgEric Pincus, who covers the Lakers and Clippers for Hoopsworld, has incited a near riot in Lakerland by starting Kevin Garnett-to-Los Angeles trade rumors.

There is noise out of Los Angeles that a serious deal may be brewing. The original thought was a sign and trade for Eddy Curry, though if you believe the reports out of Chicago, the Lakers are not actively negotiating with the Bulls.

I can make a very credible argument that the Lakers are indeed close to landing Eddy Curry, but that doesn’t make it any more true than . . . the Lakers are about to land Kevin Garnett.

To be fair, I’ve sat on rumors that the Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves were in talks all summer. I never took them seriously.

Why would the Wolves trade Garnett to a conference rival?

It sounds too good to be true . . . or is it?

If you’re new to internet journalism or unfamiliar with Chad Ford Syndrome, Pincus’s whole thing is to do stuff like this (last time it was LeBron James) and then go spam his article all over message boards, causing monstrous threads like this 39-page one that has the Lakers winning the 2006 Finals by next Tuesday. That’s one of SIX on Lakersground.net, all centered around Mr. Pincus’s “scoop”.

We tend to go by the old adage of “if you read it on the internet, it’s probably true, except when it comes to Eric Pincus.” Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 659 times, still shame on you. 660 is our limit, buddy.

Pincus is a credible jouralist sharing whatever insider info he can get. Just because 1 in a 100 possible trades actually materialize, you shouldn’t just rain your curses on Pincus.

Thats fine, just don’t call him a journalist or reporter, a gossip repeater?? Yes, I’ll buy that.

The Cavalier, you don’t have any idea who Eric Pincus is and what he writes about. If you get a moment, please re-read his article. He says nothing about KG coming to LA is a done deal. How do you know the two team GM’s are not talking? Are you a fly on the wall? Are you credible? Do you have inside sources? Well, if not, I know for a fact that Eric does. End of story.

Yeah, they may be talking but its about Sprewell, not KG.

I’m with TMC on this one.

Pincus has a habit of getting Laker fans’ hopes up by reporting false information.

His self promotion on message boards across the web is irritating to say the least.

There is more credible reports that the wolves/lakers are talking about a S&T of sprewell, but are having a hard time getting it done, and may have to involve a third party because the lakers don’t have enough to make Glen willing to help sprewell get more money. With that in mind do you really think they’d have enough to make Glen give up the franchise player without them giving up theirs?

This Cavalier over here comes off like the chief buzzard on the dumptruck but lets take a closer look.

First, he is interested in emplay’s work, deeds, and career destinations.

Yes sir, he is interested, as seen by commentary we have all read. He is a case study type I always get a kick out of: the Manque Internet subMaven.

A manque is a ‘failed something else,’ the very idea of such a specific drawback as this cracks a smile. You wonder what led him to this point. This particular “Cavalier” manque of course plys his unsolved future on the Internet. At this he is an expert, in other words a Maven, but seeing as he is deep beneath roiling sea of loftier observational towers, and beneath the surface of the real world’s version of relevance, an asterix as been added, thus is a subMaven.

So now we see and hear him in all his glory as he steps forward with his fake Internet name and emits absolutely nothing of value or worth. He squeezes out instead a pishy little unreferenced slam at another poster who at least references and catalogues and identifies what he is doing and why.

I’ve read this Emplay before and he appears in the midst of shoring up his whole career platoon right before our eyes. He shows a work ethic and desire to determine what makes one better and goes about physically constructing just that. This is not ’spamming Lakes boards,’ since I am here to say I know of the best one and he is there and it ain’t spam.

So again I am left with just what might ‘Cavalier’ have up his mind with these blanket inaccurate shots to emplay’s back?

He is jealous but not smart enough to be measured and appropriate in it’s manifestation. Maybe again he is demonstrating some lower insect level of jealousy we normals don’t recognize at first. A subJealousy if you will.

But it is more than just subJealousy afflicting “Cavalier,” there has to be a reason he has offered such an uninformed namby pamby 2nd rate assault at emplay and with such piss-eager public limpness to boot.

One can only conclude that “Cavalier” is eager for a bump-up in status but doesn’t have anything to say toward justifying respect besides eventual tenure. He hopes that someone else who has been getting attention can be shot down so there will be an automatic forward movement in the line.

I summary, I have learned zero about emplay from the comments of “Cavalier,” but I have pretty much got myself closest thing to a thumbprint sniffing out “Cavalier” of by and for himself.
