There’s passive aggression, there’s aggression, and then there’s new Knicks Head Drama Queen Larry Brown calling Allan Houston New York’s best player. My god, this is more amazing than we figured possible.
Asked to give his impression of what went wrong for the Knicks last season after they ended December with a 16-13 record, Brown brought up the knee injury that has kept Houston sidelined for the better part of the past two seasons.
“They started out pretty darn good, but when you lose an Allan Houston, you know, your best player, it’s pretty difficult to overcome that,” Brown said.
We had day 3 of training camp written in for the first jab at Steph, and our scenario only had LB saying something like “He’ll have to figure out what’s going on if we’re going to have any chance. He’s not getting it yet.” But a pre-camp “best player” tag on Houston? The one who hasn’t played in like 3 years? The one who had 13 knee surguries last week?
There’s no way Larry didn’t know what this will do to Marbury’s strangely shaped head. Remember, this is the same Marbury who last year declared himself the best point guard in the league, ahead of MVP Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, and roughly 3-7 other guys.
We’d like to think we had something to do with this, being that we sort of snubbed the Knicks in our initial Drama Rankings, placing them at #6. Don’t fret, Coach Brown, we’ll be sure to adjust things in the next edition, especially since Phil and Kobe have devised an intricate plan to convince the world they get along.
Next week on YAYbasketball: “Larry Brown says he nailed Steph’s wife, sister, and mom. All at once.”
