Following the guidance of internationally respected, award-winning scientists, executive director Danny Ainge has begun rebuilding the Celtics using nothing but savvy vets and Scientologists.
Paul Pierce spent the summer contemplating what it’s going to be like to retire a Celtic, which was assured to him repeatedly by the team. To the point of annoyance, really. He’ll return as the youngster leading a group of elders into battle, hoping to mold them into a cohesive unit.
It should be easy. With over 4 million games played between them, players like Al Jefferson, Delonte West, and Gerald Green have plenty of experience, just not together. Ricky Davis could be the glue that binds the squad, provided he can keep making key crunch-time plays in the 4th quarter, as has been his forte.
That’s not to say there won’t be drawbacks. Guard Tony Allen is involved in some time-sensitive charity events, and coach Doc Rivers has a history with Pierce. Sometimes BFFs shouldn’t work together, and these two are about as BFF as BFF gets. Defense was also an issue last year – they played SO much of it and were SO good at it, they were often mentally exhausted by the 3rd quarter.
Predicted record: 44-38
