We can’t remember why or how we ended up there, but Jalen Rose is blogging for BET. It’s updated somewhat often, and he’s pretty frank about a lot of things having to do with money and fame, which is what all normal and intelligent people want to know about. (Along with Jessica Simpson and this Dawn Yang person.)

Yes, I pay for the tickets. That’s another NBA misconception. They give us three tickets at home and in the family section. That’s nowhere in the first 25-30 rows. You get two tickets on the road but 80 percent of the time you have to buy them. When I play in New York, for example, if my mom was coming to the game and I was to use the tickets that they give me they’ll have her sitting far away from the floor. So I would still have to buy her tickets.

It’s weird having everyone know what you make…But I’d rather have the problem of making money than not making money. When you’re making the kind of money that athletes make, whether you come into that situation as a girlfriend, a date, or a homeboy, we’re not hanging out in the average car, we’re not hanging out in the average house and we’re not eating in the average restaurant. That’s not normal and I take it like it’s not normal. Your character is what carries you.

Jalen Rose has by far had one of the strangest careers we’ve seen in recent years, and after reading how self-aware he is, we now hate that he’s stranded up in Toronto. Rumors persist that the Knicks want him, which would almost be worse. How about Miami? Can we get him to Dallas somehow? Home to Detroit?

Jalen’s website is worth a look - it’s regularly updated, and either Rose himself or a flawless simulated version has put a lot of thought into it. You’ll find tons of info on his various off-court activites, including the “Giving Back Fund”, which sounds a little like the Human Fund, but we’re sure it’s not. Pretty much sure.
