One of the Nenes is injured

This picture is what you get when you do a search on Nene. The question is, which of those people is the Real Nene, and who is the Fake Nene who is out for the year with a “torn everything” in his knee?

“He was playing so well,” [Denver] general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said. “In the whole scheme of things, it hurts us, the Nuggets, but I really feel bad for Nene. He looked great in preseason and for something like this to happen really hurts, but he is going to come back.”

The damage to the knee was extensive — a torn anterior cruciate ligament, sprained medial collateral ligament and torn meniscus. Vandeweghe said no damage was done to the actual knee joint, which means Nene should eventually come back all the way.

Even if he does make it back all the way, will anyone want the Fake Nene, when they know that the Real Nene is out there to be had? Does the Real Nene even play basketball? If he does, is he as overrated and riding on future potential as the Fake Nene is?

As usual, we don’t have any answers. As far as this little case of Which Nene is Your Nene, our money is on the toothless kid staring right at you, although the screaming/laughing kid looks like the better athlete.
