The Sports Guy’s Intern is a punk

renee 4eva.jpgWe try not to call out other sites too much, only on special occasions; like when they deserve it or we’re grumpy. It’s entirely possible The Beard is all over this this morning already, but we want to throw in our 17 cents, as well.

Certain mainstream media sites have neato little sections called the Daily Links, wherein they link around to this and that and haha it’s all fun stuff. Again, we don’t want to get too specific, so for our purposes here, we’ll simply refer to them as The Sports Guy, aka Bill Simmons, and his Intern at ESPN.

Once, twice, ten times…? Call it coincidence, although don’t think the blogosphere doesn’t notice. However…Renee Herlocker the day after we bring her up here again? Nu-uh. We’re calling you out, kid. We KNOW you read this site, okay? We KNOW. We KNOW you read our buddy over at Deadspin, too. We also KNOW that you admittedly use blogs to find links and stories, yet rag on them as unoriginal and uncreative.

That’s all fine and good, although if you ever accuse this site of not doing anything original, we’ll tell everyone how trapped and confined you feel at ESPN. (Is freesportsguy.com available? You need to be unleashed – free opinion from an (as of yesterday) totally biased third party.) Again, who cares – what matters is you and your buddy took Renee Herlocker and called her your Renee Herlocker, even though she’s really the Denver Broncos’ Renee Herlocker. We’ve been stalking Renee since last month at least.

We’ve resisted piling on Bill Simmons like the rest of the internet, because we think he’s talented and feel his plight in being chained to Disney. That said, this shit ain’t right. Sources count out here in the Wild, Wild West. Renee Herlocker belongs to the world, but you could never understand that, could you?

I noticed the same shit too, I’d rather look up yay or dead a few times a day than await for the daily links, it is not the first time either.

I think a lot of his jokes for his Friday football column come for the net, probably the fine folks over at Deadspin. He ran the Panthers cheerleaders joke a week late, McNabb a week late. He has time to sit around and look at other sites and find jokes that he likes and runs them as his own. The Sports Dork ever thieves from DJ Gallo. But tell him I said “Hi” when he stops by.

Why hasn’t this picture been posted yet? Did I miss it?

Doesnt everyone remember the whole intern contest Simmons had? Wasn’t it inevitable that such a contest could only lead to a total douche? Bring back the old intern.

Nice how he stops tracking his cumulative record once he goes 3-11, the week after saying he went 6-7.

Funny thing is, two weeks ago he actually was 5-8, and last week, he was 2-12…he went back in and changed his JAX-BLT pick after the Sunday games were over!

Where can I redeem my ‘the Sportsguy will stop tracking his record in November and start tracking again a few weeks later with an extra couple of mysterious wins added on to his score’ lotto ticket? I wonder if his bookie lets him take mulligans?

It happens each year, like clockwork…I just threw up in my mouth.
