Everyone’s shorts are too long

iverson.jpgThe off-court dress code apparently isn’t the only clothing related problem in the NBA this year. Fines are starting to pile up around the league as shorts creep too far below the knee during games.

Six players, including the Knicks’ Stephon Marbury and Nate Robinson, already have been fined $10,000 apiece for wearing shorts that exceed the allowable length. This week, they are supposed to join four Sixers, including Allen Iverson and team rep Kevin Ollie, in filing a grievance, seeking to overturn the fines.

“That’s why I’ve got some players rolling up their waist-bands, to make themselves legal,” said Detroit president Joe Dumars. “We were just warned about it. But I don’t think it looks very good when guys are playing with their waistbands turned inside-out.”

Personally, we’re all for lengthening the shorts, which could only lead to more hilarity than already takes place on any given night in the NBA. Regardless, players are desperate to cover their legs – next thing you know, someone will come out wearing tights or something.

This whole shorts thing is getting out of hand. Seriously. Who the hell cares how long the players shorts are? As long as they *aren’t* to their ankles, the NBA should pay attention to more pressing issues, like an investigation into those damn tights Kobe has been wearing.

Do they make shorts that don’t come past Nate Robinson’s knees?
