Sonics All-Star forward Rashard Lewis got busted drunk driving back in September and was finally charged with it yesterday. Even though there were five cars going 80mph+ at three in the morning, to hear Rashard tell it, the whole thing sounds quite innocent.
“I have been charged with a traffic offense involving alcohol. I have cooperated fully with the police during the investigation. Since the charge is pending, my attorney and I are working together to resolve this situation.In the meantime, I do not have any further comment and I look forward to the matter being resolved soon,” Lewis said in a statement released by the team.
Great statement – if you wanted to, you could guess he got in an accident with a beer truck. We have lots of friends who have gotten DUIs and that’s pretty much how they all describe them. This is a little more serious, but we actually have one friend who got arrested for assualt, and he said “I have been charged with an offense that involves a clenched portion of my hand region and the facial bone structure of another human being.” We were all totally like, “so you kicked somebody’s ass,” and he was all, “I have been charged -” and then Team Dime busted in and beat us all up.
