Somebody actually emailed us this “deceased Artest” rumor, but we’re not sure whether to take it seriously or not. It came from “u_are_an_idiot@hotmail.com”. In the case that Artest isn’t dead, according to our friend Sam Amico, he could be a Laker soon.
“Basically, it’s Artest for Devean George, with the Raptors getting involved to make it work financially,” the source said. “When and if it happens, this will be a trade that consists of plenty of throw-ins.”
Lakers forward Devean George would end up in Indiana.
The third team involved in the proposed trade is the Toronto Raptors, according to the source. The Raptors would send Jalen Rose to Los Angeles — and in return receive Pacers forward Austin Croshere and at least one player from the Lakers.
If there’s one place Ron would probably agree to in the Western Conference, it’d be the Lakers, if only because so much of the music industry is LA-centric. If it turns out the other rumors are true and Artest has actually died, then this is probably still a good trade for the Lakers. The only real loser here is Devean George, as getting traded for a corpse is considered embarrassing in many circles.
