Ron considers the most effective way to call Chris Mullin a recovering alcoholic
This isn’t opening the floodgates to weekend posting or anything, but sometimes you’ve gotta do it. What could inspire a weekend YAYupdate? How about Ron Artest talking trash about Magic Johnson? Somehow, in the same conversation in which Ron says he brought up the trade request in the wrong manner, this comes out of his mouth:
Artest said some of the criticism he has received has been unfair. Former NBA great Magic Johnson said Artest doesn’t deserve a second chance in the NBA.
“It’s like saying, ‘Magic, should your wife give you another chance?’” Artest said “He’s saying Ron Artest should have no more second chances. What’s worse — me saying I want to be traded or you cheating on your wife?”
Well. Does this mean we can cross the Lakers off the list of potential trade destinations? Will Magic respond to this on TNT? Can this get any more fun? Those are all nice questions, but the real one is: was this calculated on Ron’s part, due to all the rumors of the Lakers being close on a deal for him? We go by the Rodman theory of Artest, i.e. he’s no dummy. He said he doesn’t want to go to the west coast, and that’s one team pretty much crossed off the list.

I’m no big ron Artest fan all but the guy has a piont
Ron Artest, as much an idiot as there is, still did nothing wrong by critisizing Magic Johnson in the quotaton given. If Magic can say Ron doesn’t deserve another chance in the NBA, then Ron can say Magic cheating on his wife was worse. Even though Magic is more liked, he admitted to cheating on here dozens of times, and gave his wife the possibility of contracting AIDS along with it.
again, this is about respect! everything guys like doc, magic and bird done, guys like artest destroy! he just doesn’t get it. maybe instead of pointing out somethig magic turned into a positive he should look in the mirror and see he has some problems that all the money in world can’t fix and magic knows something about money!!!!
I know Ron Artest messed up ,but give the man a chance. All those who are blabbering were given second chances even though they did not deserve it, therefore leave him alone. I don’t agree with some of his comments, but he’s a great ball player. Everyone has to eat.
Ron Artest comments are well taken. Who is Magic Johnson to be critical of Artest. Magic had a pattern of abuse as to his wife that resulted in his contacting HIV. Still the NBA has continued to support him and enable him to expand his business interests!
Dollar for dollar, Ron Artest is the most talented basketball player in the NBA!
lllll
Regarding Ron Artest:
“Momma always said that stupid is, as stupid does”
Magic is my favorite player in the history of basketball. As a former high school player, I’d much rather play with him than micheal Jordon, who hogs the ball. That being said, he is just as wrong as Karl Malone was when he tried to deny Magic the chance to continue his carreer after contracting HIV. Ron Artest has every right to ask for a trade. He may be a pain in the ass but you can’t strip him of his rights. Besides, he still has tremendous value to a basketball team. Those that would attemp to hurt someone finacially for expressing thier opion should take a long look in the mirror. I expect this from Iran or Isreal? Not Magic and the U.S.
this whole situation is kinda like t owens in the nfl jamal lewis did jail time continued playing second chance right ray lewis second chance right to why shouldnt he get a second chance along with artest who is earvin johnson that he can say if someone can have a second chance this is a game majerk did his wife real dirty with cheating on her for the longest majerk should take a look at himself rather than artest and he should be thankful for all the money he has second chance that he was able too save his life from the hiv because we all know if he did not have that money he would probably not be alive
My belief is that Magic Johnson’s comments regarding Ron Artest was no more out of content as much as Ron’s comments for Magic. We are talking about two isolated situations. And more importantly, Magic’s personal life has nothing to do with interfering with the NBA as much as Ron’s on court Drama. I think that Ron is a big distraction for The Indiana Pacers And as for the rest of the league. And most of, after last years incident he has shown his true commitment to the NBA. Unfornately he has dug himself into a deeper hole. And Lastly, It sounds like another “Terrell Owens” Thing to me.
Personally I respect both guys. i mean think about it, you have one of the “greatest” point gaurds of our times who made more than his fair mistakes yet he was given another chance, then you have one of the “best” hustle players around in the game today who made more than his fair shares of mistakes and i feel that he deserves a second chance or three of four you know. but in all fairness, i basically grew up watchin magic and when i found out that he had aids i forgave him…… so magic why not find it in your heart the heart that i know you have and forgive ronny because just like you he deserves a second chance.
First off if Ron was smart enough he would of kept his big mouth shut….He is just a bomb ready to explode. If any team is considering in getting a big distraction then fine get the idiot. I personally dont think he is that good and especially not good enough to be demanding a trade…. So stop your bitching and play ball.
Ron has every right to demand a trade, it’s the way he did it and how he said it that was wrong. Also, Ron is not being criticized so much for this statement alone, but for the cumulative of all his past transgressions.
Who would get a harsher judgement – a dude who ran over one dog or the guy who has a hostory of running them over? Ron doesn’t get much leeway anymore.
I don’t have a problem with either guy. They’ve done some shitty things, but in my mind it takes a lot more than what either of them has done for me to completely write them off. And with that said, the Cavs were playing awesome for almost the entire game tonight!
Hope Ronald should be trade to Warriors team for dunvlery and other player . Ron will be be better person with Chris Mullin s help. Trust me .
Ronald will be great one like Ali . After years world honored Ali then Chris Mullin will change Ron s life . Ingore Magic s comments.
RON IS A KIND OF NERD AND EMBARRASSED THAT HE IS A THICK-SKULLED.
Romans 12:19-21 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
The scripture from Romans 12:19-21 I believe weighed heavily on Magic Johnsons mind when he went as far as offering Karl Malone his retired number when he joined the Lakers! Many wondered how Magic could be so nice to someone who publicly tried to humiliate him, denounce him, display great dislike towards him. It’s biblical folks. Ron Artest is a mirror of the generational curse that he is a part of. He’s not the first male in his family with that personality. Take the money he has earned out of the equation; we’re dealing with a character problem here. Money in the bank account do not change your character; it allows you to indulge further into the true desires of your heart. Until Ron releases those whom he hold Hatred, Animosity, and Unforgiveness for; he will continue to be a troubled man! Holding people in bondage with your emotions make you a sick person physically, and mentally. This is no DR. Phil show cure either. It’s a Ron drawing nigh to the Lord thing…
Ron Artest shut the premodona Lebron James down the last time he played him. He’s number one in my book Kind of like a Dennis Rodman with atittude.
Apples and oranges.
Someone can have the professional oppinion that crazies should be kicked out of the NBA for hurting the NBA product.
Artest giving magic back is just fun and actually a good comeback, nice going Ron.
I love him as a player and Donnie Walsh messed this up from day one.
He should have done 1 of 2 things.
1. Smoothe things over, have someone with half a brain explain to Ron how stupid he was. Eventually he would straighten up and be welcomed back to the team so they could win some games.
2. Sit him. Dont say “yes Ron we will trade you” just sit his ass untill he straightens out. All this giving in to trade demands is soo stupid.
If I was GM I would demand that my players would shut up and play for their contracts, on my roster I would have a brute and let it be known that if they demanded a trade it would cost them a knee injury sooner or later. GM’s are getting soft its sad.
WELL I ‘M NO FAN RON EITHER, AND THE DIVING INTO THE STANDS IS STILL AN OUTRAGE, BUT HE MAKES A GOOD COME BACK TO MAGIC. ALTHOUGH PERSONNAL + PROFESSIONAL IS DIFFERENT. IN PROFESSINAL SPORTS ITS THE SAME !
Artest is not nearly the irritating destraction that T.O. is or Dennis Rodman was. Those guys make you want to vomit just watching the game while they play and in between plays . I don’t think he was out of line saying what he did about Magic. And about Magic, he was a great player, of that there is no doubt, but…. contemplate the supporting cast he had. His teamates were much better than Birds, and much, much better than Jordans.
we should all forgive each other and move on.
Ron has gotten a bad rap. Did you hear the CD he made? Now, that’s a bad rap.
It was just unnecessary. At this point he has to know that he could criticize chicken soup and he’ll get called out for it.
You can call this a racial comment, but actions speak louder than words !!
Why is all the trouble in sports, come from black players ??? And if I went in the stands, and start hitting people, u think I would get probation !! O’Neal, Jackson, and Artest…should be in JAIL !!
For Artest to criticize chicken soup is totally out of bounds.
Ron Attest is a moron. Basketball is a business, not a person’s personal life. Therefore, the decisions, made by the NBA, are predominately motivated by business unlike personal relationships that often involve emotional attachment, which sometimes creates unwarrented leniency!
In response to Tom. All the problems in sports are caused by black players? Let me rattle off a few nonblack examples before I take my morning shit. Kenny Rogers, Ugueth Urbina, Jason Giambi, and Raphael Palmeiro. For the last two guys, steroids aren’t exactly legal but they weren’t really investigated for a crime or charged with much. If I had tested positive for steroids do you think that I would get off with a suspension from work? The fact of it is that it doesn’t have to do with race or ethnicity, you’re just being a dipshit.
How would u like to have a team of misfits like;
Steve Jackson
Jermaine O’Neal
Ron Artest
Spreewell
And some players like Kevin Garnett..want the bucks, but is scared he might get hurt on a cruise ship, to play ball for his country !!
OK.. What is all this talk about SECOND chance??? Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn’t he been suspended around 5 times? Hasn’t he been fined like Thousands of dollars??? I do believe Mr Artest is working on his fifth or sixth chance. So Boo Hoo for Mr Artest
Tom, it might be a stretch but I think I can go small and put Artest at the 4 and JO at the 5. Though, I’m still gonna need a point guard. Also, thanks for addressing my point when I addressed your point. And you have very creative punctuation. And your butt stinks.
JO wouldn’t be happy at the 5. And if we know one thing about JO, it’s that he’s a whiny baby.
I think Ron needs Medicine!
what a dumb ass!!!! consider that Ron Artest was abad boy before the Detroit incident, now he’s pulling a T.O. job and thinking his #@*% don’t stink. You do not trash legends and expect the league, or owners of other teams, to look kindly on you, even if you do have a point. In my opinion, until he matures, he needs to be taught a T.O. lesson, or maybe traded to Portland…….What an idiot.
I’m not a big fan of either, but I must say that we may not ALL like the manner in which the trade request came about; but we ALL must agree that when a team is NOT happy with a players’ performance they don’t hesitate to trade that player. So why are we even wasting time on this subject, because he has every right to request a trade if he’s not happy….e.i;”WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?”
i don’t know if he needs traded or not but i think he needs a shrink. every year at this time he goes a little crazy. we all know people who have had something in the past that effects them when they are grown. Maybe he had a traumatizing experience when he was a kid or something. I believe you can look at his past and see he definately has trouble this time of year. I think he is great ball player but he is not good for anyone’s team unless he shuts up and plays…..maybe he could watch basketball with latrell spreewell, i think people got tired of his antics also.
Could it just be Seasonal Affective Disorder? Maybe a trade to sunny Cleveland Ohio is in order.
We are comparing apples and oranges or your job versus your personal life. Majic was wrong and we all know this, but let the man who has not sin throw the first stone. On the other hand, Artest spoke out publically without respect for his teammates, owners, and managament. If he gave a shit about anything other than himself, he would have quietly and professionally approached Mr. Walsh and Mr. Bird about his feelings. No, the dumb ass and I mean dumb ass talks with some reporter and goes public. Don’t compare mistakes unless your willing to share all of your dirty laundry too.
i love this guy.
My we all note that Ron is stating (via his agent) this morning that he wants to stay in Indy now?
it sucks the colt lost
who gives a rats ass about either of them
Ron I like the way you play but your comment was lowdown and yes you are an ass, Magic has a right to say u don’t deserve a second chance to mess up again in the NBA , Magic is a legend and he knows talent Please stay with the Pacers ok u will do the wrong thing again:)
I used to have a little respect for Magic, but Magic puts his mouth in everything and every NBA player’s business. He is not a model NBA player. I would not want my kids to look up to him. I don’t know who would have respect for a guy who cheats on his wife, caught AIDs, and could have passed it on to her. Eventhough he caught AIDs, he got a second chance to play for the Lakers. I don’t know how his wife stick arround with him.
My memory is sometimes a little fuzzy, but didn’t Magic get the HIV virus before he got married. Basically, he was cheating on his girl friend, not his wife. I am not defending his lifestyle, however.
i think everyone has a opionion whether it is right or wrong and i’am the biggest magic fan in the world and yes i believe he was wrong by judging another player period but what does his cheating have to do with anything all these dudes that keep talking about magic cheating have cheated themselves so get over him cheating and realize what magic did for basketball if you remember him and bird saved the league so you know what he can say what he wants.
Violence and disregard for authority is a social delinquent problem of American society. The result of everybody thought they has an opinion, they can get by anything, can say what they want and get away with it. It is a sign of a decadent society and we are seeing it ocuuring everyday in sport, in holywood (that place stinks) in corporate America, in Congress in Governments Federal, State and local administrations, in entertainment, in the White house, and so I said let everybody examined themself before you say a thing about anyone, Is a medicine Americans need now not blind criticism of one another
Give me a break, dude. I give enough money to the NBA to judge whomever I damn well please. And, as was noted earlier in the thread, Artest spoke out publically regarding his situation, just as Magic did which is further justification for anyone to criticize, compliment, etc. Bottom line is that Artest is a crazy sob. Can’t believe after all this drama and pissing off his current teammates he’s decided he wants to stay.
It doesn’t sound like they’re going to accomodate him though. He’s gone.
