The last etology ad everWe’ve gotten emails here and there over the past few weeks about the new design and the ads running down the left side of said new design. Here’s our reasoning on all of this – might as well get it out of the way before 06.

1) The new design is cleaner, easier to read, it fixed up the archives/permalinks, and allowed our ad space to behave correctly. If you have any comments about it, please let us know – we’re willing to compromise and want things nice for the readership.

2) While we do this mainly for fun, it also costs time and money to do. Our traffic has grown quite a bit since we started, and while we plan to buy our own server soon, renting server space isn’t free, hense the term “renting”. Now, the truth of the matter is that we presold all of our adspace, but until they start actually using it, we’re going to utilize it to generate additional revenue. As such, we’ve been playing around with Google Adsense and some others, like the awesome etology.com.

Until this morning, that is. This morning etology ran some ads for beefjerky.com, which earns the latest Awesome Award from us. While we’re complete sell-outs and will be shills for almost any company for a couple bucks, we’re not running ads for beefjerky.com.

Thanks for listening – we’ll be back to hoops in a sec, lest our new panda overlord start whipping us again. That’s right folks…we done been bought out…by a panda. As far as we know, nothing will change content-wise, except that we may be required to have more panda-centric content from time to time.
