At least for one day, the New York Knicks aren’t the worst team in the NBA. In fact, they actually beat one of the better teams in the NBA last night by taking down the Suns 140-133 in triple overtime.

The Knicks, who entered the game tied with Atlanta at 7-21 for the worst record in the league, never trailed after Curry opened the third overtime with his three-point play.

“It is very satisfying,” Marbury said. “It shows what we have as a team. Whenever you can go on the court and play three overtimes with no one giving up, it shows what we can do on the court.”

We know what alot of you are asking – what’s triple overtime? Well, here’s how it works. If at the end of the regular 48-minute basketball game, both teams have the same score, the game goes into what’s called “overtime”. This is an extra 5-minute period of play, during which the hope is that one of the competing teams will score more than the other.

Unfortunately, sometimes the score is still tied at the end of this session, in which case the game goes into “double overtime”, which is a second extra 5-minute period of play. At the end of this 5-minutes, if it’s still tied, then they go to triple overtime, which is what we saw last night. Nobody knows what would’ve happened had the Knicks not managed to come out ahead at the end of that, but there are rumors of something called the “Fourth Extra-Period Dance-Dance-Dance”, which is really just a fourth overtime with a sexed-up name.
