We apologize for getting the first post of the day up so late - over the next ten days (starting last night), we’re going to be in four different time zones on two different continents (three if you count the US). That’s not a joke - we’re going to do everything we can to keep the post volume up, although timing may be a bit off. As always, we make no promises regarding quality. We’ll be able to watch the Cavaliers thanks to one of those Slingboxes we picked up.

On to the business at hand - we’ve been asked several times over the past couple weeks how much we make blogging. Coincidentally, our boss has decided to release those figures to the public. You can check the wire services for the release, or just read it here; the numbers are startling.

YAYsports! Announces 2005 Losses And 2006 Projected Losses; Nobody Is Happy
Los Angeles, CA - January 8, 2006 - YAYsports!, a sports blog network owned and operated by Miles Standish Publications, announced on Monday that they lost over 14 million dollars in 2005. Miles Standish CEO Muffy said of the loss, “Well, I don’t know. You know what they say about chickens and watching the eggs boil and that stuff. I am going to relax for awhile.”

Muffy went on to say she hopes to lose even more money in 2006 by expanding the site’s Blogosphere Poll Rankings, or “BPR” program, which is the blogosphere’s equivalent of the AP Poll. YAYsports! currently runs a BPR for the National Basketball Association (NBA) by using their proprietary BPR software to allow over 20 of the net’s best NBA bloggers to rank the league’s teams every other week throughout the season.

She did note that the launch of Miles Standish’s newest site, Mary Hartz: The Excited Blog, generated over 36 million dollars in its first week of existence, which helped soften the blow dealt by YAYsports!. “Google Adsense is really something. Holy crap.” She declined to elaborate, but said she could see Mary Hartz growing quickly by incorporating “more pictures of Jessica Alba’s ass.”

Miles Standish as a whole is projected to lose over 67 million additional dollars in 2006, the vast majority of which will be by their flagship site, YAYsports!.

Well, there you go. You do the math. We’re rich!
