Hot on the heels of crazy real-life trades comes (guess who?) Chad Ford with crazy pretend trades.
The man with the degree in hula dancing is once again playing with ESPN’s trade generator in an attempt to “fix the Knicks” by this afternoon.
Lakers send Odom to New York; Kwame Brown and Smush Parker to Atlanta; and Devean George, Stanislav Medvedenko and Laron Profit to Utah.
Utah sends Carlos Boozer to Lakers.
New York sends either Marbury or Francis to the Lakers.
Atlanta sends Josh Childress to Utah and Tyronn Lue and Donta Smith to the Lakers.
New York sends Jamal Crawford to Denver.
Denver sends Earl Watson and Greg Buckner to New York.
New York sends Quentin Richardson to Washington.
Washington sends Antonio Daniels and Jared Jeffries to New York.
Chad! The trade generator is NOT A TOY. Go to your room.
The problem with Chad Ford’s trades are that they’d always be one of the two or three biggest trades in NBA history. He seems to forget that all the teams involved would have to actually agree to this. Yes, this works under the cap, but only on in the universe of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is it happening.
From our perspective, while the idea of either Marbury or Francis trying to play next to Kobe is entertaining, there’s no way it beats Marbury/Francis playing for Larry Brown in New York. We’re in for a real treat, and it all starts tomorrow night with a beatdown by the team across the river.

Isiah GMs like a 10 year old plays fantasy hoops. He doesn’t really care about winning, it’s just fun to see how many cool players you can get…and besides it’s not like it’s real money….oh wait, yes it is.
i remember having a fantasy hoops team on the sports illustrated for kids website approximately 10 years ago that could beat this year’s knicks. it was like otis thorpe, dino radja, and dana barros. how is isiah not fired? i just dont get it. who is in charge over there? is he in a coma somewhere? someone needs to explain to me how thomas still has a job.
I really am amazed that he’s calling this rebuilding. Getting a dude who’s about to leave his prime at 16M per is not rebuilding.
I think this has really reached the point where this is going to be remembered in history. Before it was just kinda some bad trades and weird moves, but this is reaching like Ted Stepian type stuff.
“Remember when Isiah wrecked the Knicks for 15 years?”
This tema is seriously shot through at least 2010.
And I don’t want to hear anything about Eddy Curry “developing”.
Eddy is what he is – an okay center. He’s Kevin Duckworth. 15 and 6 or whatever.
Although Isiah is acting like he is making trades on NBA Live 2006, I don’t think that he is doing a worst job then any other GM in the circumstances would have done. When he came in he wanted to strip down and start over, but his higher ups told him that he couldn’t rebuild in New York, that is why he has been doing this rebuild on the fly thing. Obviously if the Knicks were totally unhappy with the job he was doing he would be out of there by now. People forget that the Knicks salary cap was already destroyed before he got there. They were making outrageous deals for overpayed players way before he got there. Layden started that tradition with trades for Dekembe Mutumbo, Keith Van Horn, and with Paying guys like Glen Rice, and Allan Houston ridiculous long term deals. Lastly this team is not that bad on paper. If Larry Brown was that good of a coach they would at least be a .500 team. Seriously! He has two young big men that are at least could be half way productive, and a lot of other talented players. Compare their roster talent wise to the Lakers. If Phil Jackson were coaching this team they would at least be playing .500 ball. Play the right way my ass!
Do you know how many NBA teams would die for a Kevin Duckworth in his prime right now? That is how bad the big man situation in the league has gotten. He would be an all-star every year if he played now.
And Eddy Curry will never develop because Isiah gave his fat ass a phat contract before he did anything to deserve it.
I know – the big man situation is awful.
It’s weird because it’s really the fault of guys like Garnett, who is a 7-foot small forward. He’s actually able to do it, though.
Darius Miles could be Larry Nance, but he’s convinced he’s a shooting guard.
Maybe Dwight Howard and Greg Oden will bring it back.
larry seriously looks like he’s about to cry in that picture!! lol … priceless entertainment!
that picture is fantastic
I happen to be a chad ford fan, and what you don’t know is that chad is good friend of a good portion of the GMs in the league. so many times when you see chad coming out with some trade ideas, it’s because these trades are really being considered by GMs.
