One hour to go until the deadline, and unless there’s a last minute blockbuster, we’re looking at “the Earl Watson deal” as the big move made before the trade deadline.
It’s a three-way (Portland/Seattle/Denver) deal, and the only people that matter in it are Earl Watson to the Sonics and Ruben Patterson/Reggie Evans to the Nuggets.
Denver wants Evans to solidify its injury-plagued frontcourt rotation, with Kenyon Martin, Marcus Camby and Eduardo Najera all in and out of the lineup and Nene lost for the season on opening night to a knee tear. Nuggets coach George Karl, meanwhile, has been pushing hard for Patterson, overlooking the eight-year veteran’s stormy history in Portland because he craves Patterson’s perimeter defense.
It’s too bad George couldn’t find a way to satisfy that craving without actually having to trade for Ruben Patterson, who is a little crazy and enjoys exposing himself, which we read about on the back of his basketball card. The real winner here is Luke Ridnour, who gets a chance to relax on the bench behind Watson, rather than having to play so much every night.
We said it yesterday and it worked, so we’ll say it again today – we want more trades NOW. This is not good enough by far.
To be satisfied, we need either another disasterous move by the Knicks or three mid-sized trades involving second-teir teams looking to make a playoff push.
Or anything involving Stromile Swift. For some reason seeing Stro traded is all we can think about. It’s been eating at us for like 54 hours now.

Dude, you’re supposed to be a big name in the basketball world. Can’t you stir up a better deal than this?
I got it in at 3:01 and they said too late.
Damn NBA and their rules. They are such sticklers.
wait weren’t you supposed to be fired yesterday anyway?
Yeah I don’t know what’s up with that.
