An unmanipulated view of the play in questionThe Timberwolves beat the Suns on the road last night, sealing the victory up when Kevin Garnett did/didn’t block Shawn Marion’s shot at the buzzer.
Here’s how it my have happened, if you watch the video – Shawn shot it, then it went up, up, up, up…peak-down-SWAT. That’s one version, at least.
From some angles, particularly those from the stands at US Airways Center, Garnett seemed to swat Marion’s shot a millisecond after it had peaked, which normally would bring a goaltending call. The Wolves star’s position on the court at that point, slightly closer to the basket than he appeared to be to Marion, also is a cue for referees to credit the basket.
“It was a good block,” Garnett said. “As soon as it left his hand, I got it. I’m sitting here in front of y’all with a win.”
You know how we feel about refs, because we’ve never talked about them before, but this call either was or was not good, based on what you think.
As for us, we don’t think, so this isn’t really an issue for us. We just type words and they show up on the screen. Pretty much whatever thought comes into our head – often they happen to have something to do with basketball, which is pretty fortunate. Man, it looks like it’s going to be nice today – it’s like that time we said to our girlfriend, “Life cereal is way better than the other cereals, which aren’t nearly as good as Life cereal.”
We don’t even eat cereal, because we pay attention to details, and we never learned to play a musical instrument, either.

Are you kidding me??? That block was 100% legal. I watched it like 10 times. I don’t like what you’re insinuating.

It wasn’t OBVIOUSLY a goaltend.
To argue it definetly was, you could just as easily said it wasn’t.
If it was at it’s peak or there abouts, why not encourage the guys to make plays..
The no-call seemed correct in my opinion.
Calling that a goaltend would have been lame and equally as controversial…

That swat was total goal tend. KG is so pissed that he wont be in the all star game he is convincing himself that it was clean. Such a bullshit call. If KG had any respect, after he watched the replay he would have admitted that it was a goaltend and walked away with a win anyway, but, he is a fraud and a cheat and he will take your knees out in the hallway before the game.

I watched that game as well. That was an awesome block. He dealt with it so skillfully that it would be highly controversial but also a great one. The ball just paused in the middle then flew away. An awesome one..You can’t do better than KG..
