LiveBlogging the new, Magical life of Darko Milicic

usher.jpgSince the Magic are playing the Cavaliers, we happen to be in a position to watch the very first moments of Darko in an Orlando uni. We bring them to you here. (In the pregame, Cavs coach Mike Brown had to ask how to say ‘Milicic”.)

On a side note – Usher is at the game, hurting the “the Cavs and Usher are having some sort of unidentified problem” rumors.

2nd Quarter

9:56 Darko enters the game. Z is at the free throw line. Darko’s cut his hair – it’s a trim buzzcut. Everyone is laughing in the entire arena. They’re all going “DAR-KO! YOU-ARE! FROM-A! NO-THER! COUN-TRY!” over and over. He’s got on the familiar and iconic #31.

9:38 Darko attempts to set a screen. Jesus.

9:17 Darko’s on Z. Something happens with a bunch of people getting tangled up. Let’s make this clear – Darko is standing up straight the entire time while everyone dives for the ball at his feet, yet somehow the it ends up in his hands. We believe he’ll get credit for that steal.

9:05 Darko gets the ball at the top of the key and then passes it to Keyon Dooling. Flawless! He’s initiating offense!

8:13 He’s standing calmly on the wing, a true cog in the Orlando Magic machine.

Commercial break. This is amazing. Continue reading after the jump -

Hello.

7:48 Z hits a jumper over Darko.

7:31 Another pick! YES!

7:24 He’s being boxed out by Damon Jones. This is amazing both because Damon is a pseudo-point guard and also because he’s never boxed anyone out. Why Darko? Why now? Grant Hill is at the line and makes a free throw. Darko slaps his hand, then stares at it, like “wow…that is a a-plus American superstar…”

6:44 Darko executes what’s actually a nice pick-and-roll with Deshaun Stevenson and makes a pretty slick reverse layup. We say retire on top, but he’s staying in the game it looks like. We should note that Darko looks really tan – a shout-out to his mentor?

Darko’s out of the game – surely he’ll be back for more hand-slapping, pick-and-rolling wonderment, and so will we.

Umm…Darko never made it back on the court. Orlando loses. Are these two things connected? You know what we think…probably not.

They only played Darko for like 5 Minutes. WTF? It’s not like the Magic are in the thick of a playoff chase. They are not the Pistons so they have no excuse. PLAY HIM!

They said that will be the least amount of minutes he will have the rest of the season.

Darko’s gonna come up big…for the FreeDarko blog
