There are all kinds of trade rumors floating around with the Orlando Magic, and if they both come true, we’ll be all “Oh yeah! This is gonna be great!”
Rumor number one has the Magic picking up DARKO from the Pistons, along with Carlos Arroyo. Detroit would get Kelvin Cato and a first round pick.
If this isn’t enough, rumor number two is Steve Francis to the Knicks, and the Knicks don’t give up Marbury in doing so. Let’s read this quote from the story and just soak it up.
But a league source said team president Isiah Thomas envisions a Marbury-Francis pairing that would evoke comparisons to the Thomas-Joe Dumars guard tandem the Pistons won with in the 1980s, or the Walt Frazier-Earl Monroe backcourt the Knicks had in 1973 the last time they won the championship.
What’s better – the actual comparison or the fact that it springs from the mind of Isiah Thomas?
Please please please please please please let this happen – this’d be a classic Zeke move, the crowning achievement to a disastrous stay in office. We even joked about this last week, but no way did we ever think it was possible.
We almost forgot, but the other great thing here is it’ll finally be Darko time, which should be almost as entertaining and interesting as peanut butter jelly time.
(It gets better – Steve Francis is 29 next week – wow. Lucky he’s not on like a long max deal or someth…yep.)

This is the kind of move that will surely make the videogame version of the 2006 Knicks a viable option to choose.

BROWN OUT IN THE GARDEN

I remember sitting behind the basket in the late fifties, at the Old Madison Square Garden, with my father and brother.
The swift moves of Sweetwater Clifton, the bumbling feints and falls of Ray Felix, the gliding
sweeping ballet leaps of Willie Naulls, and best of all the long two-handed arching swish heaves of Richie Guerin. This was a youth well spent.
As I Iook back on those days and the interim between, many fond memories and frustrations, about being a long time Knick fan surface.
But nothing increases my angst more than the present situation. As the evening is beginning and as I prepare myself to watch another Knick game, I ask myself what pleasure can I get from
seeing failure ,and being bored by the same unstable coaching of Larry Brown. I have watched this team,certainly talented and athletic enough to possibly contend in the Eastern conference, be confused and berated by a coach who makes countless mistakes of decision in developing and managing this team. After thirty different starting line-ups, playing odd-ball combinations of players, lengthening and shortening playing time without any reason, not establishing any motion in an offense, and chiding his players to perform when they are not given the training and options to do so, I feel that “Brownie is “not’ doing a heck of a job”. True there have been injuries. True the new players are going through a learning curve. True the contracts of some of the players don’t match their talent and efforts-but these factors call out more for a stable guiding hand with consistent but innovative tactics, to teach confidence and strengthen fundamentals.
I am not sure if it’s burn-out or due to stress, or a result of physical problems, but Larry Brown,
should not be coaching the Knicks for much longer. Of course this must lead, eventually, to eating Brown’s contract. I am sure Dolan will not like this —one bit.
But the writing is on the wall,
We true Knick fans cannot sit through four more years of this.
The Knick players cannot be forced to play under these conditions.
We want to see the raining arcs of threes by Q, the Baby Shaq domination and finesse of Curry,
the cross —over shuffle and sailing shots of Mal, the ever-present grit and leadership of Steph, the
the tenacious courage and skillful panache of Nate, the versatility and gun slinging of Channing ,and the leaping feats of Lee.
Something must be done to make this happen.
So we can have a mature later life well spent.
With the reality of a championship preceding the senility of old age.

At least it would make the Knicks interesting again. Stevie Franchise and Stephon ME-berry fighting over the ball everynight…that is what I call must see TV…

If you share my view that Larry Brown is screwing up a good team-and needs to go-then let me know.
I am really sick and tired of this bitchin about Stephon. He is one of the most dedicated, unselfish, hardest working and talented players in the league. If he had a coach who could implement some movement in the offense, keep the same players on the court for more than a nano-second-and stop interfering with the progress of his players-Stephon and his teamates would excell beyond anybody’s imagination .
As for Steve Francis-he has great skills but is an unfocused and quirky person
who will never survive the taunts and
belittlement, the grunts and moodiness
of Brown-and the thimble like knowledge of basketball of sportswriters like Vecsey and Isola.
The Knicks don’t need more players
with big, bad contracts and butt-head
sensibilities. They need the right
players on the court-for 35-38 minutes
every night-and they will succeed.
I am afraid Larry can’t do this.
