Bryan Colangelo likes building things

by The Cavalier on March 1, 2006

Bryan Colangelo.gifWith former Suns GM Bryan Colangelo officially starting his job as new Toronto GM yesterday, there are lots of people writing things about him.

What are they writing? Mostly words, peppered with a few phrases and quotes. For example, in the Toronto Star, you can see a quote of a sentence – one that was actually spoken by Colangelo.

“I want to change this franchise,” Colangelo said yesterday. “I want this to become a destination for free agency; I want people to understand what attributes Toronto gives to players.

“I think that this is just an absolute gem and I think we’re going to turn it into something that’s going to shine nicely.”

What does Toronto give its players? That’s the question nobody can seem to answer, but it sounds like they might start giving out jewelry.

That seems like somewhat of a waste, since they can’t wear medallions to games anymore. Why don’t they give them stuff like bacon, or Molson, or even a snowman building kit? This is Canada we’re talking about, after all. Maybe they could even give them a trade to Phoenix or even the Suns, which are actually the same team.

If you haven’t figured it out, we can’t seem to gather why a GM changeover is made at this time of the year. There’s no free agency obviously and the trade deadline is already passed. What exactly is Colangelo doing today after he fills his pencil cup? Hanging out? Hunting humans with Chris Bosh?
