Lakers vs Celtics and the NBA Playoffs

lakers celtics.gifThose of you who were video-gaming in the early to mid-90s recognize that as the title of one of the best Electronic Arts (now EA Sports) NBA games of all-time for the Super Nintendo and/or Sega Genesis. We had both systems at one point, and our obsession may have actually been with a later version called Lakers vs. Bulls and the NBA Playoffs.

Regardless, the point here today is that it’s the spring equinox, which means the Lakers and Celtics are playing their annual Spring Equinox Classic. Check it – it happens every year.

Huge game for the Lakers – they’re barely in the playoffs as of this moment and go a game below .500 if they lose. Huge game for the Celtics, as well – they’re only 3 and half back on a playoff spot. Slim chance, but they can get there.

We don’t make a lot of predictions on here, and usually at this point in the post we quote something from elsewhere in order to fill some space/word count issues. Not today.

Nope, today, we’re going to make an actual prediction. We’ve gone over the stats, rosters, schedules, and everything else for both the Lakers and the Celtics, and now we’re prepared to come forward and tell you definitively who will win.

Don’t take this lightly, as it’s not often we do something like this. Pages and pages of analysis and equations are scattered around us, as if some kind of nerd war took place.

Our call, including exactly how many points everyone will have and other details…after the jump.

I loved that game. And yes, the download doesn’t work. If someone knows how to fix that, pls pass it on.

I used to pick Kareem every time. The skyhook never missed within 15 feet of the basket, while every other shooter was touch and go, depending on when you pressed the space bar.

Aaaah, the memories. Good times, good times.

I was probably about 7 or 8 when this came out. My friend and I would take turns lobbing 60 foot shots. Final scores were in the 9-6 mold.

This is cool, you have to try it. I guessed 67074, and this game guessed it! See it here –
