Steph and KG yearn for one another

Steve Francis goes for the ballWe get the feeling KG is just being polite, but after yesterday’s NY-Minnesota face-off (which the T-Wolves won), both Kevin Garnett and Stephon Marbury expressed a desire to be reunited on the same team.

However, they both also said they don’t really want to leave where they’re at, creating quite the little logistical problem. After whining about everyone wanting him to get shipped out of NY, Steph talked about something he knows very little about.

“As far as basketball, I haven’t had that much success as far as winning,” Marbury said. “To me, success is winning a championship. Everything else is secondary.

“I think the way the picture is supposed to be painted is a picture that is supposed to say, ‘Them two guys together … championship.’ It doesn’t work like that,” he added. “You have Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade on the same team, and they didn’t win the championship last year. So, it’s not fair to just say that about two guys. It takes a whole bunch of (players).”

We’re not sure what he said exactly, but it sounds like he could be channelling the philosophies of Isiah Thomas, i.e. getting “a whole bunch of players”. That’s all it takes – just get as many guys as you can and put ‘em out on the court.

As for Garnett, we don’t want to say this, but his comments post-game sound like he’s greasing the gears to get moved in the offseason, and we imagine he’ll have a nice sit-down with ownership and ensure they take the blame for it. Again, we hate saying it, but he sound fed up, and we’ve been right about this stuff before.
