We’re not always up on the latest slang or the latest movies or the latest hot collectables, so we’re not always sure what we’re talking about at parties and things like that.
That’s why we’re thankful that Stephon Marbury, in his latest back-and-forth with his coach Larry Brown, dropped us a clue as to the hot new trend in sports merchandise. This all came after Brown pulled Steph aside for an attempt to make peace yesterday.
“He flexed a real hard juice card, I know that,” Marbury said. “So he definitely made me aware of what he can do. But that doesn’t scare me at all.”
Marbury’s salary would make him difficult to trade, anyway. Brown said he wants Marbury to return, “if he’ll buy into what we’re trying to do.”
Again, we weren’t sure what this was all about, but godddamn if we didn’t go down to the card shop this morning and find out they just came out with flexing juice cards. We bought a whole box – check ‘em out.

We got two of the foil-embossed grape juice cards – awesome. Oh, and go read the whole Marbury-Brown update – if that’s a truce, we’re due for another blow-up by this afternoon probably.

freakin hilarious. i also wondered what marburied meant by that slang
“FLEXING” in this instance is similar to the usage in “flexing muscles,” wherein an individual demonstrates a certain quality or sentiment…the term “JUICE” implies a high degree of clout and prestige, as shown remarkably in the 1992 film JUICE…The term “CARD” does not denote a physical collectible but rather a figurative expression along the lines of “playing the race card,” meaning to draw attention to a specific characteristic for manipulation, therefore to “FLEX A REAL HARD JUICE CARD” Larry Brown demonstrates his clout, a definite characteristic for manipulation, which coincides with Marbury’s admission that “he definitely made me aware of what he can do. But that doesn’t scare me at all.†Ultimately, Larry Brown uses his high position as a threat/warning to rebelling insubordinates (i.e. STARBURY )
Interesting.
