The last of the criminal trials in the infamous Detroit-Indy-Artest thing is finally over, and the dude who threw the cup of beer at Ron has been given his verdict.

John Green is not guilty of throwing the cup, guilty of assault for throwing a punch.

He faces up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine. Sentencing was scheduled for May 1.

The 41-year-old contractor chewed gum and showed no emotion as the verdicts were read. Green and his attorney, Shawn Patrick Smith, said afterward that they would appeal on grounds that Artest was not present for the trial.

“[That] he didn’t show up is a violation of my Sixth Amendment constitutional right to have him here,” Green said of Artest, traded by Indiana to the Sacramento Kings on Jan. 25.

Big surprise, but we’re confused. Step one – he throws the cup. Two – Artest goes into the stands and attacks people. Three – Green throws punch at Artest.

How is he off on the first count but on with the second one? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Furthermore, the Sixth Amendment doesn’t say anything about Ron Artest.

Oh, and never chew gum in court. Haven’t you people been to law school? When we say “you people” we really mean John Green, who got away with throwing beer and is also bald and stupid and a gum-chewer.
