kobe 01.gifRon didn’t completely shut down Kobe (30 on 12-28 shooting), but the Kings went ahead and beat the Lakers last night by a healthy margin.

During and after the game, Sacramento higher-ups were running their mouths, led by one of the Maloof brothers apparently doing a throat slash gesture on TV. Head Coach Rick Adleman, whose job has probably been saved by Ron Artest, joined in the fun, as well.

“I have no response to Phil Jackson no matter what he says,” Adelman said. “I mean, who cares? The bottom line is, I guess you can say ‘Scoreboard’ tonight.

“Phil’s going to have his opinion, and he can say what he wants. But who’s buying into it? It’s all B.S., is what it is, so why should I worry about it?”

This was in response to Phil making some comments that Artest is pretty much the sole reason Sacramento is any good all of a sudden.

Now, we don’t know exactly what Rick’s looking at, but a quick glance at the Kings season shows they sucked before Ron got there, and then got really good after. Technically Phil is right. Rick is wrong, which means he’s probably getting fired this afternoon, which is what we heard from Phil Jackson. Big rumor - insider types like Chad Ford and us know all about it.

Phil is just upset because he knows if Artest made a terrible Kings team good, he probably would have made a mediocre Laker team very good. Damn that Mitch Kupchack!!!
