The Pistons are Central Division Champs

The Hawks and Pistons played last night, and the result was about as expected – Pistons win, and in the process cliinch the Central with way too many games left in the season. They’re 40 freaking games over .500.

The Hawks are a different story, however. As you can see, the Associated Press has officially declared them to be in a slump. Finally, everyone else is coming around to what we thought was happening all year. Can a sucky team really slump? Aren’t they in a perpetual slump?

Anyway, at least the players and coaches are thinking positive and keeping those competitive juices flowing.

“I was pretty pleased with our effort,” [Atlanta Head Coach Mike] Woodson said. “We came in and competed.”

Al Harrington led the Hawks with 23 points and Joe Johnson had 17.

“Obviously, they are the champions again,” Harrington said. “I’m a big fan of Detroit, so hopefully they win it again.”

We know it’s easy to kinda jump on the Pistons bandwagon – even we did it when they slaughtered the Lakers a couple years ago.

The merits of doing so when you play for a team that they just beat up can be questioned, however, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do when we get off the plane in Atlanta today. That’s right, we’re driving to Al Harrington’s house and confronting him.

The plan is to walk right up to his front door, knock on it, wait for him to open it, look at him for a moment, tilt our head exactly 15 degrees to the left, do a slight “whatup-style” nod, and say “What the hell, Al?”

If he doesn’t give us the answer we’re looking for, we leave. If we get the answer we’re looking for, we leave.

Either way, we’re not hanging out with Al Harrington today – bank on it.
