With no games or anything significant yesterday, the biggest “news” may have been the Bobcats releasing shooting guard Kareem Rush seemingly out of nowhere.
His former coach Phil Jackson quickly stood up for him, calling the move “vindictive”. KR’s new coach Bernie Bobcat Coach responded yesterday by in turn sticking up for his decision, his organization, and other things best left unsaid.
“Phil has that ability” to judge, Bickerstaff said sarcastically. “He was in our locker room … at our games.”
“He probably forgets he wrote a book for profit and (revealed everybody’s confidences). So he has no credibility.”
Well, he might have some credibility, but we tend to agree with Mr. Bickerwillers – if Rush hadn’t played for the Lakers, would anyone even know who the hell he is? He’d be a Jason Kapono or even a Malcolm Martelligan or Lawrence Tisman. Maybe a Thomas Carwell – there’s a name from that lockout season, huh?
Word now is that Phil is trying to get Kareem back in LA, which should ignite that Bobcats-Lakers rivalry everyone has been clamoring for. It’s just like the championship years.
Speaking of which, ESPN is showing those NBA Finals 1/2 hour recaps of the Bulls’ first three championships today starting at 1 (Eastern), which means you shouldn’t expect any posts during that period, in case we forget to watch them for the 150th time. That’s basically our way of leaving ourselves a note, which we may start using the blog for more and more.
