The NBA is eating the CBA

by The Cavalier on April 7, 2006

sioux falls.gifThe CBA has been around for a long time, but it looks like the end may be near, as the NBA has taken in arguably the league’s four best franchises and merged them into the Developmental League.

This is something that always made sense to us, plus we have no emotions, so there’s no really heartbreak in seeing the CBA die.

That sentiment isn’t shared by the hardworking execs of the minor league. Survival has overtaken everything in this case, and nobody is hiding the fact it wasn’t a move they totally preferred to make.

“From that perspective, today is bittersweet,” says Greg Heineman, standing amid a festive gathering at the Force’s new Minnesota Avenue office.

“I think back to how hard Roger and I worked to bring the CBA back to life after Isiah killed it.”

At least there’s no bitterness.

You may or may not remember the whirlwind romance Zeke had with the CBA, but let us assure you it was just as fun and even more destructive than his tenure with the Knickerbockers. As we remember it, he bankrupted the entire league in like 17 days flat.

Speaking of the Knicks, at what point do they cut this guy off? Between his general ineptitude, sexual harrassment charges, and the very mention of his name making people say things like “oh, man…”, isn’t he more of an embarrassment than anything?

While we’re on the topic of embarrassment, we’d like to address something we’re embarrassed about, but we’re too embarrassed to do it. Somebody convince us otherwise. We dare you.
