We actually have a lot to say – the main thing being that we didn’t punch any holes in the wall today. That’s not a first, but it is a rarity.
Would we rather they’d won? Of course, and we’ll have more thoughts on Game 7, the series as a whole, and the future of the Cavs in the days ahead.
As of right now, there’s a certain truth to FreeDarko’s analysis, and we think that’s why we’re sitting here in a decent state of mind.
Many have said this already, but I think it’s abundantly clear now that LeBron will have his day. Would we rather see it pulled off as an improbable, slightly uncomfortable and undeserved, feat of circumstance, or witness him trundle into battle with the army of proud, sturdy chariots befitting his legend?
This isn’t the Indians in 1997, where it was some sort of out-of-nowhere run that wasn’t going to be repeated by any stretch. To travel outside Cleveland, it’s not the 2004 Lakers, where you built the thing for one year, and it was then or never.
The Cavaliers are building something special, and it’s going to last a long time. To shamelessly retread back to our pre-series feelings, maybe this was just a necessary step.
The future’s looking good, and The Bron is destined to rule the league from the N/E Ohio area, beginning next season. After watching the past month, there’s zero doubt about what he’s about to do to the NBA as a whole.
One last thing for now…ABC? Eff off. For one, there was no reason to run down the list of Cleveland sports heartbreaks. This loss doesn’t fit the template, and it wasn’t even dramatically effective in the moment. There actually isn’t a two on that. That was it.
All of that said, there’s a warm freedom in knowing we can step back into the nonpressure world of simply watching ball. Enough odes to greatness and such – let’s Photoshop some spatulas and swear unneccessarily when children might be reading!
(Now would be a great time to go donate to Who Shot Mamba? btw. All of our Cavalier playoff energies now go to that.)

We will give the Pistons a run for their money once again in next year’s Eastern Conference Finals. It is going to be absolutely phenomenal! Go Cavs!

Sorry, man. Losing a Game 7 is never fun…but i think you have the totally right outlook:
1. The Cavs played a great, great series.
2. They didn’t blow it in a terrible, heart-breaking fashion.
3. They’ll be back.
It’s never easy to swallow defeat, but try dropping “defeat” in some Guiness and pound that shit!
There you go again, putting your eggs in one basket. “The future’s looking good, and The Bron is destined to rule the league from the N/E Ohio area, beginning next season. After watching the past month, there’s zero doubt about what he’s about to do to the NBA as a whole.” Let’s hope the Cavs’ front office doesn’t have the same idea because a superstar never wins a championship: A team wins a championship.
LeBron is a great player and I really enjoy his play, but he needs a team around him. What does that say about superstars? They’re nothing to invest all your emotions in. I’ll take Pistons team play any day.
Are there any good fishin’ holes in Akron? I’m thinking of taking a trip after the NBA Finals.
he’s g o n e
the cavs lost the series wheb they let the pistons off the hook in game 6.
it’s too much for a young team to beat the eastern conf. champs in their home .
it’s quite obvious that the present line up of the cavs needs a little more improvement.
they should trade james to the raptors !
I’m not saying THIS TEAM is set to win it all by any means.
You guys talk like this team is a finished product. They’ve got some tradable players and the MLE to use this year.
Not only that, but LeBron is going to get better. This was only his first playoff experience.
The Parade of Spectacular Cleveland Sports Shame was really shitty and made me more pissed than the game did. ABC even dug up Red Right 88 as an extra unnecessary kick in the nuts.
Ahh well. I still give the season as a whole an A-plus for not only meeting but exceeding our expectations, and I can’t truly be disappointed. I think we know now that the Cavs aren’t as far away team-wise as most of us thought. And we have also learned that Mike Brown was a great choice to lead this team. It would be tough to say that he wasn’t the best coach on the floor for both these playoff series.
Credit to the Deee-TROIT Pistons, they finally got tough when they needed to. Hopefully they have figured out that overconfidence is a killer- they were about two lucky rebounds and a blown time-out opportunity away from losing it all in Game 6 to a team that they had figured was just happy to be in the playoffs.
Now we can all go get something done.
WHO SHOT MAMBA
“It would be tough to say that he wasn’t the best coach on the floor for both these playoff series.”
Oh yeah- except for the brain lock at the end of Game 6, of course.
Cleveland would’ve had a much better shot to win this if we had an offense that encouraged movement off the ball.
Players like Marshall and Jones can make shots, but you have to put them in a position to get good looks at it.
Varejao is not nearly our most skilled player, but the guy scores points simply because he’s actively moving around to get open.
My condolences…I actually rooted for the Cavs and made sure to watch this one…
They’ll be losing the C’s in the ECF in 3 years, don’t worry.
great series, cavs. If nothing else, it got me tuning in here everyday. I’ll keep it up… take it easy on the ‘Stones the rest of the way
Is it okay if I’m not convinced that it’s just a matter of time and moves before LeBron’s bringing rings to Cleveland?
I’m angry and I’m disappointed, but I’m also not buying into the “sure thing” of it all.
Danny Ferry’s got his work cut out for him. I hope he’s on the phone right now.
Danny Ferry is your GM…enough said. How Ironic is it that he is the same guy that those old Cavs teams rested their hopes on. He was the last peice of the puzzle that never actually developed. Ron Harper for Ferry still haunts the Cavs to this day. Just like Ferry the GM will. And just so you know, Ferry didn’t make any of those deals this summer. The Cavs had pretty much come to terms with Hughes before Ferry was in the fold. So we have yet to see what he has in store. For the sake of the league, I hope that he has half a brain when it comes to this stuff. I want to see LeBron v. Wade in the conference Finals every year! And LeBron/Wade v. Kobe in the Finals every year. People want to see good basketball and the best players go against each other. At least I do.
As well, the Cavs will never win a championship until LeBron stops bitting his damn hang nails! What’s with that?
I agree with you TVBrain. I was a Rockets fan in the 80s, and it was a sure thing that the Twin Towers were going to rule the West for a few years, if not the NBA, after they dismantled the Lakers in 86 and lost a tough series to one of the best teams ever, the Celtics. Next year saw some drug charges against Mitchell Wiggins and Lewis Lloyd, Ralph Sampson was gone in a few years, and it took eight more years for Hakeem to get the ring.
Other seemingly sure things: How about Marino after the ‘84 Super Bowl. Seemed certain he’d be back. Or even the Kings. Looked like they’d take over from the Lakers after 02, but Webber’s injury ended those hopes the next year.
So it seems likely it’s a matter of time – whether that’s five years or eight – but definitely not a guarantee.
Silver Lining?
Z is shaving that pelt off his face. If the Cavs are to advance to the ECF next season, I’m gonna need the big fella to shave the morning the playoffs start before he starts growing his “playoff beard.”
Yeah i wished they’d ditched those after the first round.
Hey Jones,
Danny Ferry brought Flip Murray into the fold when Larry Hughes went down. That move saved the whole season. Danny Ferry got Flip Murray for somebody named Mike Wilks and cash.
Bron-Bron is better than Jesus!
And Ghandi!
Combined!
Later – hope you enjoyed your time here.
TVBRIAN: If Flip Murray could have grabbed a rebound in game 6 you guys probably would be in the next round. But yeah, I’m sure Ferry will be a good GM, I am just raggin’ on him because it’s fun. He ruined your franchise as a player, so it’s just funny to me to think that he is the guy in charge of current BBall operations. It’s kind of like putting Olowakandi as the GM of the Clippers when he retires.
Amare is going to steal a bunch of Lebrons thunder next season.
