The Jazz are losing money

larry miller.pngWe’d feel bad if we left all you Mormons and non-playoff participants behind, so let’s dive into the world of the Utah Jazz.

Over the weekend, team owner Larry Miller casually let out that his franchise has lost money for two seasons running. (We’d like to point something out. Although we long ago left the grudge behind, this is partially the fault of Carlos Boozer’s huge contract.)

“We’re losing a lot of money. Huge numbers,” Miller said of the team he has owned for 21 seasons. “Blow-your-mind numbers. The past couple of years have hurt us, big time,” Miller admitted. “It’s painful.”

“Being competitive on the floor is important to us, and we believe we are headed in the right direction,” Miller said. “You have to be smart about it, and I think we have been. This [loss], it’s an eight-digit number. . . . But it’s something we were prepared for.”

We don’t want to accuse an owner of doing something before they do so, but this looks suspiciously like step one in a multi-part plan to ask for a new arena.

We know, we know – the Delta Center was just built in the 1990s. What you’re missing is that this is a 23-year plan. You watch – come 2029 Larry Miller (or a Miller heir) will come forth with the “we’ve been losing money every year since 2006″.

A quick internet search will lead people right to this post as evidence, whereafter people will say “Wow, look at that blog. How the fuck could people actually stand to read that mess every day?”

(NOTE: This post ignores the fact that technological advancements will continue after like, today.)

Yeah, they lost money…It’s hard to make money when you write off 50 million for your private jet, 25 million in tithe to the mormon church, and at least 10 million for hookers and blow.

Don’t feel bad for any of these owners. They cook the books, then take the loss against their taxes.

I’d trade my salary to own any NBA team that is “losing” money!

The Jazz haven’t been on the map, or on anyone’s tv for that matter, since Stockton and Malone left. They need a lot of help but at least they aren’t doing as bad as the Sonics. I am just hopeing that Ray Allen can get off of that team and appear on a deserving team.

Big deal…. What’s he going to do? Have his 20 wives attack me?? Or maybe pummel me with the book of mormon or whatever it’s called…

We’ll see how tough you are when the missionaries are dispatched to your house to make you a “believer”.

I was friends with this kid who was Mormon and I had no idea what all that food in his basement closet was about.

He wasn’t happy when I started digging in one day after school.
