One of those headlines we wrote - the other was actually up on ESPN.com this weekend. We take equal amounts of joy from each.

Not taking joy from anything are the PHX Suns, who find themselves down 2-1 to the Mavericks, with Game 4 tonight in Phoenix.

“We’re kind of in the doldrums, which is impossible to be that way in the Western Conference finals,” Suns co-captain Steve Nash said. “We’ve got to get our spirit picked up. We’ve got to be a lot more enthusiastic and have a lot more belief in ourselves.”

We’re not sure what the doom-and-gloom is all about - someone is gonna be down 2-1 after three games. Dallas papers are writing columns like the Suns are already dead.

Sure, Nash’s peoples have been taken out of their running game a little, but that’s kinda what the playoffs can be about - one team asserts themselves and gets a win, then you adjust and see if you can do it the next game. It’s not like they’re down 2-1 or 3-0 and going to play on the road.

Tell you what, PHX fans - we wrote a little pick-me-up poem for back when the Cavs were down 2-0 to Detroit and we were a little down. You’re welcome to use it - just print out a screenshot of this post, cut out what’s below, and keep reciting it all day until you feel better:

THE HAPPY POEM

Go LeBron go,
I know that you know,
That the Cavs are the best,
And that is the best.

The Cavs are the best.
Oh, yeah.
Oh gheah.
Oh, they’re the best.
And I know that you know they’re the best.

Go LeBron!
Go LeBron!
Drink Power Aid!

Now, if that doesn’t work, maybe you should start taking some pills that make you feel less depressed.

    i have a poem too

    mavs are good
    suns are good too
but not as good as the mavs
    mavs in 5

Great poem Zack and I’m sure we will all enjoy the whole Mavs team stealing another win from the Suns in the house that Charles Barkley built!

all the obituaries are premature, i think. sure, the mavs are better than the lakers. but if the suns can come back from 1-3 down, they can still take down the mavs. i’m rooting for the mavs, but i’m not blind to the situation. being down 1-2 is nothing. premature obituaries are bad luck–look at what happened to tmac when he was with orlando and his team was up 3-1 against the pistons. “i don’t want to be the player that never gets out of the 1st round” he said. famous last words. i remember when alonzo mourning stated that the us basketball team would not be defeated in the olympics in his lifetime. david stern cracked: “then he must not be planning on living very long.” then, zo’ came down with a kidney ailment and had to retire from basketball.

i believe in having confidence, but i guess i’m a stronger believer in jinxes.

then why is that jackass still playing and pointing to god? he sure as hell hasn’t learned to keep his stupid mouth shut.

Raja Bell sure is the “face” of the NBA this year. I’m just curious who at ESPN saw the humor in that title…some junior editor(go get coffee and order my a hooker type) is the big winner this week.

First things first..I love my Mavs..butthe city of Dallas has gone RETARDED! I mean c’mon people…we act like we’ve NEVER won anything before..
the city of Dallas has already started planning a CHAMPIONSHIP parade..dumbass sports writers are writing columns that would jinx an All-Universe team into losing..FAKE-ASS Maverick fans are the only ones who can afford tickets to the games (see game 1 attendence in 4th quarter)..it’s just a little frustrating..let’s go MAVS!

derek it drives me crazy to see all those fake mavs fans in the lower level… CRAZY… i hate it that everyone in the lower level is all dressed up for a GQ shoot and has no mavs gear on… oh well.. just keep winning

  9. 9 The Cavalier

Yeah it’s kind of strange - I thought maybe I had missed a game and the Mavs were up 3-1 or something.

You kind of have to wonder what the Suns can do though. They don’t have any players they’ve been saving up who can suddenly change their strategy. Unless KT starts playing, and let me tell you, I’ve seen enough NY playoffs to know he’s not exactly the one-man gamebreaker.

Just a question..is it possible that Dirk slept with Steve Nash’s wife, and for this very reason, Dirk swore to never defend Steve Nash, AT ALL, for the remainder of his life? Dirk is a bad mutha..and I know his D hasn’t ever REALLY been there..but my gosh..7′0 of pure athleticism against 6′3 freak moves…I’d say Dirk SHOULD have some chance there..just a thought of course..

  12. 12 Nick

Dirk has swore to never defend anyone, period.

Nash has been lighting up big guys all year.

  13. 13 The Big Picture

Bell got death threats?!?!? whoa! did I miss something?

  14. 14 becky

steve nash is jamie foxx. of course. how didn’t I see that? silly becky.

  15. 15 The Cavalier

I think Kenny’s in love with Jamie Foxx - that’s like the third time he’s used that in the last week.
