This PHX-DAL series turned out to be kinda anti-climactic.
The games were all high intensity and thrilling in their own way, but none had that last-second excitement the previous two West series did.
That stayed true last night, as Dallas overcame a big deficit to win the series in six, moving on to their first NBA Finals and bringing much joy to all the big oil families in Texas.
Also happy in loss was Suns MVP and Dirk Nowitzki BFF Steve Nash, who, as always, remained humble and expressed joy for his former team.
In fact, that same joy was flowing back at Steve from DAL owner Mark Cuban. It’s all so circular and joyful – let’s just read about…together.
“For me, personally, to be able to see Dirk play for the championship is exciting,” Nash said. “I mean, it hurts a lot that I won’t be able to do it, but I really, really admire what he’s been able to do.
“I’m proud of his accomplishments and what he’s meant to that team. And he deserves it, and I’ll be rooting for him.”
“He said best of luck, bring it home,” Cuban said. “There’s a part of me that wishes Steve was here, wishes Fin [who plays for San Antonio] was still here. All these guys that taught me a lot along the way and impacted what this franchise has become. They deserve a lot of credit, too.”
This is all a little too happy for us, and we’re trying not to become overwhelmed to the point where we start touching people’s faces like Dirk is.
We’d say that’s a German thing, but it’s not – the “head grab” seems to be a new trend in the NBA this post-season, doesn’t it? (See: Kobe-Smush, Mike Brown-LeBron.)
Although they’re not really doing the head-grab there. That’s more like a “hey, that was a wonderful dinner you cooked for me…you’re the sweetest, most tender person I’ve ever known…my heart…is warm…marry my soul grab”.
Anyway, we’ll need a few days to digest what’s looking like the most feel-good Finals in years. We have no predictions as of yet, but we do have what we like to call a “hunch”.
Our hunch is that we’ll make a prediction, and that after we make it, we’ll be like “that’s not right, let’s switch it,” then we will, and we’ll republish the post, erasing all memory of our previous thoughts. Therein lies our personal pride…our integrity…our essense de la France.

dallas was awesome lst night but i’m afraid they will be no match to the heat.
they need the congolese center to guard shaq .
let stern release king kong mbenga from suspension .
I’m at a loss – I don’t know who I think will win, nor do I know who I’m rooting for.
Heat in 7 – http://awoodshot.blogspot.com
Am I the only one truly disappointed to not see Nash make the finals?
I was waiting for the him to take the Gilbert Arenas, removing his shirt thing to a new level.
Then we could have seen his awesome chest hair.
Mavs in 6
mavs in 7.
steve nash’s chest hair in 6.
Pistons in 7
Mavs in 6, maybe 5; but does anyone else sense that all four of the conference finalists are going to have major lineup changes? Mavs and Suns might lose a few guys due to the shift of many of their players from minor to key role (or even due to getting too much ‘face’ time…Bell). Heat are getting old everywhere but Wade, and Pistons, um… need back the consistency that was Larry Brown. Of course, my comlete disregard for the rules of “contracts” and “free agency” could make all of this irrelevant. But one thing is certain; fear the Magic.
to those disappointed about Nash not makin the finals..HAHA..I think I stated over and over all he does is ALMOST get you there..that run and gun shit DOESN’T WORK!! How many times must we find this out?? I don’t care whether Amare was out or not..no D gets you no where..MAVS WILL DOMINATE HEAT…
