Dwyane Wade is a Miami Heat

by The Cavalier on June 13, 2006 · 18 comments

dwyane wade 119.pngIf the Heat don’t come through with a win tonight and end up down 0-3, this Finals is over – revolutionary statement, right there from the YAY.

Others are writing their potential dramatic endings, like Miami’s own Ira WInderman, who thinks Dwyane Wade could do some rethinking on signing a big extension this summer when he becomes eligible.

What if Shaquille O’Neal is getting old in a hurry? What if the perimeter bent of the game somewhat has passed Pat Riley by? What if Antoine Walker and Jason Williams are as good as the supporting cast is going to get?

Two weeks ago, Wade said he wanted to ride the ride as long as possible with O’Neal. As difficult as the past two games have been, what about enduring five more years of the same?

This doesn’t get us quite as riled up as when they say it about LeBron, but our conclusion is exactly the same. It starts with “Everyone signs the extension” and ends with “Nobody else can pay him more money”.

In the middle is the ever-challenging question of where the hell else would he go?

Dwyane’s a little young to take the vet’s minimum and ride shotgun with Tim Duncan, isn’t he? Look, guys like Wade and Bron are best served by leading their own teams to a title – otherwise they just become Vince and T-Mac. Why people want to force two of the best young players in the NBA’s history into that category, we have no idea.

Wade’s signing this summer. By definition, there’s only one team better than the Heat right now at this moment. If they need to rebuild around Wade in a year or two – it’s not a problem to unload Shaq, and certainly Toine, onto the Knicks, anyway.

“Extension”.

KG for Big Ben would actually be a decent trade.

ha I can’t spell.

KG for Big Ben would be a great trade for Detroit – McHale would be slaughtered for that, though.

First off..I love the Mavs..that said..was Dwyane faking the hurt leg, or was he just that much better that the ENTIRE Mavs squad in that 4th quarter?!?! I mean damn, Mavs got beat by one man, and their shitty shooting of course.

Hi Dwyane,

Congratulations to you and the entire team and management on a great NBA season win! You and the enire team deserve it.

I saw your interview on NBA Store Live today. You appear to be a sweetheart. A skillful, talent, caring technician at what you do so well; and that is playing outstanding basketball. You also appear to be a “real” person (not a phoney star player) who I believe will have a positive influence on many young people (and old). Continue maturing in the direction you are going; I know you will succeed in all areas of your life. I admire how after getting home from work (hard work I might add); you mention spending time with your son. That alone tells me a lot about your character and value system.

Oh yes, you and “Shack” appear to work well together. By-the-way, he appears to be a sweetheart as well; that is, a skillful, powerful, talented, kind and caring man.

God bless you.

A grandmother fan

Good job, not too many people in the NBA can elbow people, grab jerseys and get charity calls like you wade. It takes a real nigger like you to bring out the best in people
