Although I’m rooting for the Mavs to sweep the heat, I will secretly root for Dwayne Wade, because his cuteness and basketball skills cannot be denied.

Upon further investigation (because I was bored), Brian Cook and Luke Walton both were drafted in 2003 and played for the Lakers when they made the Finals and lost to the Pistons. The Pistons had Darko who they drafted that year, and Carlos Delfino also was drafted in 2003, but he didn’t play for Detroit that season. His rookie season ended up being last year, when they played the Spurs in the Finals.

But seeing as Luke Walton averaged 1.9 ppg, Brian Cook averaged 0.9 ppg, Darko averaged 0.4 ppg COMBINED in his 2 years in the playoffs with Detroit, and Carlos Delfino didn’t even get a minute of action in last year’s playoffs…I’m still saying I’m right.

Wade and now Josh Howard are the first players from the class of ’03 to contribue to a team that made the Finals.

I think what Dwyane meant so say is he was the first player to ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE to a team that made the NBA Finals from the class of ’03. Simple mistake. I think the people on DBB say Manu and Duncan are likeable because they’re the only players who are in the same league as the Pistons…when it comes to protesting foul calls.
