He was angry before the game, he surely had moments of anger during the game, and he was mega-angry after the game.
Mavs owner Mark Cuban was able to set aside the time-out deal in favor of what he felt was a bigger blown call. We may or may not agree – it was actually something that made us go “huh – wait a sec” (with a gasp prior to those words) during the game.
Cuban yelled at referee Joe DeRosa for what he thought should have been a backcourt violation on Wade, who brought the ball up court in overtime. Wade was fouled going to the line and made two free throws to clinch the win.
“My understanding from the rule book is when you catch the ball in the backcourt you have to be in the backcourt and catch it,” Cuban said. “You can’t be established in the frontcourt and then be jumping into the backcourt when you catch it. That’s a backcourt violation at least in most high school leagues.”
It kinda went beyond yelling at the refs – Mark allegedly gave David Stern a series of death stares as he stormed and then left the court.
This inspired Dirk Nowitzki to kick confetti, the ball, and an innocent stationary bike on his way to the locker room. That’s a good indication of anger, although we must question why the Heat have such an ancient looking bike in their facility.
(There aren’t any pictures of this sad, beaten-down bike, but we saw it on TV. Much like the Ben Ruffleburger’s motorcycle, it’s sadly neglected and underappreciated for the work it’s put in.)
We’ll see how the Mavs respond to all of this – they seem to be in their own heads mroe than the Heat are in there. As for Cuban himself, hopefully Mark doesn’t take any of this out on Dan Rather, who is rumored to be teaming up with HDNet for news and hot news broadcasts.
Note: Keep one eye on BlogMaverick – Mark hasn’t posted since the Heat won a game, but this seems like the perfect time to emerge from exile.

Because I don’t have things better to do today: Dirk Vs. Bike, I’m betting on Bike in Round 2
The playoffs in Miami were a joke! I don’t know which city official bought it, but it was obvious Dallas wasn’t supposed to win a game there. God those refs blew goats.
I wish Mark were angrier. Instead it sounds like he’s plugging his upcoming projects.
I hate when people do that.
I never knew there were so many Mavs fans. Where were all of these die-hards at during the Roy Tarpley days?
Heeeeeee.
BDP’s right – we need to put out a search party for Zack.
from my sampling of folks in dallas, I can conclude that they are very unhappy right now
come on guys the official from miami are bonkers! its obvious dallas had like 20 freethrows, miami had like 65! backcourt violation on wade, shaq’s a dum bully who knocks ppl over and they get called. this is retarded and EVERYONE KNOWS EVEN THE OFFICALS, HEAT FANS, AND DAVID STERN. PERIOD.
It’s ok. Miami couldn’t put away Detroit on Detroit’s home court, I don’t see them putting Dallas away. If I were to use the same logic the Miami sportswriters use like in Game 5 of the Eastern Finals (Miami missed something like 9 free throws but lost by like 8 I think), then I can say had the Mavs had Stack last night they would have won right?
I have no worries. Series coming back to the Big D. Dallas is th MUCH BETTER ball club, they’ve played that way 4 1/2 games outta 5. When they come home, and the bullshit calls stop a lil, D-Wade gets only the calls he should, and the officials aren’t bought..The Mavs will prove to be the dominant squad again.
Roy Tarpley is the answer!
Rolando Blackmon and Tarpley…nice combo
I hate to keep posting back to back..but since I don’t have a life…throw in Adrian Dantley or Mark Aguirre…
Isn’t Aguirre an assistant coach in Cleveland now?
HA HA HA HA
Dallas stinks!
Better luck next year clowns
Can you dig it!
The refs were all for the Heat. Shaq elbowed as often as he could and was never fouled. He’s just a BIG BULLY! Go MAVS!!!
