Mark Cuban is swearing

Mark Cuban has finally noted that the NBA Finals are still going on over at his blog, and the results…subdued. The content…surprising. The point…excellent!

You get nothing on the game itself – we can all assume his thoughts on that. They begin and end with “upset/putting together DVDs for league office”.

Instead, we’re treated to Mark’s thoughts and philosophies on swearing. Basically – it’s healthy, and society’s decision that it’s offensive is silly. (Punctuation is all Mark’s.)

then someone asked “Is this your worst loss ever” . What the fuck kind of question is that ? Is this for a VH1 special ? “Worst Losses Ever ?” If it was, then maybe it was a decent question. Otherwise, how do you answer that question…

Am I supposed to get this reporter a thought out answer and catalog my past, or a catalog answer like “this was a tough one… yadda yadda, that sounds like every other answer ever given to this type of question after a lost game.

So I told the reporter to “Ask me a real fucking question”

His point is that some people took offense to his use of the word “fuck”, which is fine. Mixed into this, though, is a better point, and it’s something we’ve touched on before.

Reporters (for the most part) ask stupid questions, and that’s why all we get are stock answers from athletes, with the occasional Shaq nonsense reply now and then.

“What did you think about the game?” is not a good question. These are, and they’re literally right off the top of my head.

1) Mark, if you knew you could punch David Stern in the face, and you’d both never get caught and he wouldn’t remember, would you do it right now or would you wait until tomorrow?

2) Mr. Cuban, do you think global warming had anything to do with Josh Howard’s missed free throws, or are you going with the consensus opinion that he was only thinking about global warming? Just to clarify, even though global warming is sort of the cause of him thinking about it in the second scenario, it’s not the actual global warming that’s causing the missed free throws, just the thoughts of said climate change. In the first case, it’s because the arena is actually a couple degrees warmer that makes him miss.

3) Mark, could you explain something?

4) (follow-up to #3) Could you expand on that?

5) Out of all the reporters standing here, which one would you be most likely to fall in love with and why?

If none of these work, you just hand him the mic and ask him to ask you something, which you know he would totally do, and given the freedom, he’d totally say something witty, or at least memorable.

stupid questions = stupid answers .
that’s what mark cuban’s dictum is . and it’s his right.
reporters shd. ask more sensible questions . ask mark next time like, with the loss to miami last night mr. cuban . will you invade cuba now ?

I think this exact came thought (“reports ask the stupidest questions”) came into my head last night when I was reading the Chris Sheridan/Josh Howard exchange. I think it was the section, after he quoted Howard telling him to “get out of [his] face,” where he contemplated asking Howard about losing a game in college for pulling a Webber.

Although seeing somebody suckerpunch a reporter might’ve been fun.

I’ve never seen Dirk so angry….he would probably have kicked a newborn baby if it were laying in his way.

Have you ever seen Dirk so mad? That was crazy…he probably would’ve stomped Hasselhoff if he got in his way.

Dirk was furious… he probably would have lit Jason Terry on fire, threw Mark Cuban off the top of the American Airlines Arena, urinated on Shaq, and beat down the Mavericks cheerleaders if they were in his way.

Have you ever seen Dirk react that way? He probably would have driven over Steve Nash in a Hummer if he were in his way.
