Has anyone else caught any of these “Catch a Predator” things on Dateline NBC? They basically set up dudes trying to pick up 13-year old girls online, luring them into a face-to-face meeting. This should be a weekly series – the best is when the men, in the face of pages and pages of explicit chat transcripts, explain they were just there to make friends.
At 2 in the morning. After driving 100s of miles to get there. Then they try to apologize and be like “Well, see you later – sorry about this.”

I saw “To Catch a Predator” and I was apalled. Not beacause of the actions of the “predators”, but because of the actions of the police and Dateline.
Now, first of all, I’m not a pedophile (I can’t stress is enough regardless of what you think of the statements below I’M NOT A PEDOPHILE), but I don’t
understand how what these men did was illegal.
The “girl” they talked to was a group of adults, and the actress that Dateline used for their webcam and as the voice in the next room is 19. So what crime was committed?
If a man is planning to rob a bank and shows up in a ski-mask with a gun but the bank is closed and is now a Pizza-Hut and when he sees this he leaves and goes home without robbing the Pizza-Hut then no crime has been comitted. I don’t understand how this not entrapment.
Secondly, these guys may have issues (which I’ll get to), but they are not rapists. In every case they were led to believe that they were showing up to have CONSENSUAL sex with a minor.
I know that ’s it’s against the law, but these are not “predators” and what they are trying to do (consenual sex with a girl that had begun mensturating) is legal is 75% of the world’s countries and was kosher in
EVERY culture for the past 500,00 years until about 150 years ago.
The “predators” are just stupid idiots not dealing well with modern society, but they are not “sickos”. They aren’t trying to force themselves on anyone.
Lastly, speaking as man, is there one man among us who does not have instincts and impluses to do this which are no longer (but were for 99& of human history) condoned? I know I have had many “sick” thoughts. Most of us are capable of controlling ourselves.
The self-righteous prigs who condemn these “predators” as dangerous and out-of-control are absolutists with no concept of objectivity. If your a parent it’s your job to keep your children safe. This sting operation is bullshit and a waste of taxpayer money.
Which brings me to my whole point after working 8 years in the I.T. field…..some people just shouldn’t own computers. I think the people should be arrested for trying to pick up chicks in a chat room…..just my thoughts

I think it’s awful that all these 13 year old hussies are taking away all the good fat bald toothless old men…leaving the bleach blonde sketchy hookers and bar bitches with nobody.
