We usually like reading Marc Stein’s stuff quite a bit, and maybe he’s just stretched for news, but did LeBron and Jay-Z having dinner really warrant a front page headline and half a column?
We know it’s a little slow, but come on. The guys are friends – here’s a photoshoot they did last year we touted on this very site.
Anyway, we’re strapped for time more than anything, so here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening.
TrueHoop has the best roundup of all the Sonics sale reaction.
Brian Windhorst of the Beacon Journal says he’s been wrong – LeBron’s Nike deal does have location kickers, although they aren’t enough to make a MLE deal in NYC make sense.
Raja Bell apparently restarted the countdown clock on his website at some point, so there’s that to keep an eye on.
Team USA started practice today in Vegas, so hopefully, um…they start practicing. (NOTE: LeBron James talked to Coach K late last night – clearly he’s leaving Cleveland to be an assistant coach at Duke.)
Remember that if you want your product or t-shirt or whatever in Who Shot Mamba?, you need to email us NOW, so we can figure out where to place it. Need4Sheed’s t-shirt got here yesterday, as did a special friend with a supporting role.

That’s just how the national media is. They are very “coast-biased” and make up concerns, reactions and other stuff for people not blessed by proximity to an ocean.
Stein figures Clevelanders are consumed by worry about LeBron bolting so he spins it out into a column. What does he care if it’s totally untrue. It’s not like he’ll ever meet anyone from Cleveland.
Speaking of that, someone from Cleveland Heights just bought a second home in my neighborhood. They really stressed the “Heights” part. My question is: Will it really bug them if I always drop the “Heights” when referring to their home?
I hope so.
Unless they’re Jewish, or yuppies, I don’t think so.
Just tell them Cleveland Heights isn’t that great.
The internet has made sports “reporting” exactly equivalent to celebrity gossip rags – rambling speculation as a rule. YaySports has more integrity than most of the national sports stuff I read. There is always a kernel of truth in the photoshops.
I saw LeBron eating an apple today. He must be going to New York.
So, is that inflatable Ben gonna be used in rated G or rated XXX purposes in the movie?
ESPN is turning sports very tabloid with their us weekly style reporting.
Mamba is definitely a PG-13.
I saw LeBron driving a Ford Expedition around the Michigan/Ohio border. Does that mean he’s going to play for the uhh…Lions?
yeah, he’d probably make a good receiver, which we haven’t drafted in years I might add…
‘course, the inflatable Ben Wallace ego could probably do as well as anyone did in the harrington offense
LeBron would make a good wide receiver, he’s 6′8. I think LeBron would be a good 2 sport star. Put him on a motorcycle with Kellen Winslow Jr and let him go!
Leebron was a all-state wideout in high school and didn’t play his sennior year so he would be in one piece for the NBA.
I agree with boobies.
ahhh what the “media” can speculate when millionaires are caught fraternizing together
just stirring it up i guess…
Funny the media doesn’t seem to catch slummin’ millionaires when they’re hangin’ with the billionaires.
maybe ‘cuz the media gets distracted by all the dinero the billionaire boys club likes to throw around.Guess they’re greedy, too.
Simply because my bachelor party, I must point out that not only do I agree with Boobies, they agree with me as well.
Cheers!
Er, simply cuz tonight was my bachelor party that is… its 2am, leave me alone.
