Ron Artest is a role model

LeBron James

With Ron Artest only now getting around to serving his community service sentence for his small part in the Detroit Brawl back in 2004, one would think his perspective on the whole thing may have changed.

That perhaps there’d be some regret…maybe some remorse. A bit of “I could’ve handled that better” or a smidge of “well, it was irrational”.

Maybe at the very least, he could pretend it was wrong for the sake of the damn kids?

“Someone started trouble and I ended it,” Artest told about 50 children Wednesday at a panel on black empowerment at the Judge Mathis Community Center. “I would always encourage you to protect yourself but in certain situations, if you can avoid them, avoid them.”

Assuming (hoping?) this quote is somewhat out of context, we’re still not sure what the message is there exactly.

Applying his own logic, how should Ron Artest have acted in Detroit? It seems like he’s saying he should’ve avoided getting hit by the beer, right?

More important than any of this is the idea this took place at the Judge Mathis Center – this being the same Judge Mathis who used to be a criminal and now has his own TV show where he yells at people.

Hell, maybe Ron and Judge Mathis got together and decided to tell the kids to go kick some ass. In any case, the above picture was one of the more frightening things we’ve ever seen, and should always be accompanied by a huge blurb that says “THE UNIFORM IS A PROP.”

Is it me, or does Coach K have that eerie perverted look, even as he is “smiling”(could be my bias against the man.. but I’m just saying..)

While I’m on the topic of taking poses out of context, D’Antoni’s look says: “What. A. Schmuck”
