That’s an “every year around this time” statement, much like “the Celtics will be the team nobody wants to play“.
Yep, annually injured one-time superstar Grant Hill is again teasing Orlando Magic fans with the notion that he’s back, better than ever, and he’s not gonna be hurt this season.
He’s been through another summer of rigorous and intense rehab on his ankle/groin/abdomen/everything, and is convinced he’s got the formula to get through the year.
“Guys are looking at me crazy like, ‘Man, what are you doing?’ ” Hill said. “I’ve got all of these rubber bands going on and these weird drills that I’m sure people think are out there.
“It basically came down to me learning how to find ‘neutral.’ It’s about starting off in a neutral position and kind of re-learning the various movement patterns so that I’m not sharing any muscles, especially the ones in the groin and stomach area.”
The thing that’s a shame about this is that Grant, obviously, is a great guy, and really just wants to do the right thing, play well, help the team, etc.
There are facets of that second paragraph that scream “overthinking it all”, though. It’s the type of mindset that ends with someone like, hitting their head on a cabinet and being out for the year with a big head-gash.
Also, it’s very hard to not use the stomach and groin muscles together, considering they’re attached. At least they look like they’re attached. This is a good time to remind you that on a scale of 1-10, we’re uneducated.
(On the other end of the “confident they’ll come back and kick ass this year” scale is Kobe, who sounds like he’ll be good to go after a session of late summer Asian child clinic rehab.)

I really hope he is able to play as well as he did two seasons ago. He was one of my favorite players growing up, and just such an all around good guy. It’s a shame that his career went in the direction it did…
Hill will play a couple of games this season, maybe even show glipmses of brilliance. Then the Knicks will offer him a six year contract.
Wait – are Zeke jokes tired by now?
