Team USA is winning bronze circular prizes

Just to show you how much our interest died after the US lost their chance for World Championship gold, we had no idea when the Battle For the Bronze was.

Turns out it was this morning, and we actually beat up on Manu Ginolbli and Argentinaland by a fairly decent margin.

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James led the way, and well…we can’t tell you much else, because we didn’t watch it and don’t read too quickly. It also doesn’t much matter, and we assume the players and coaches feel the same.

The victory does allow for a “they just had an off night against Greece” requiem, but the real issue now becomes 2008, and the Beijing Olympics. Personally, we think the worst thing USA Hoops can do is panic and try to put together a different team.

The whole point of this little 3-year plan is to build a team that has soe continuity; that’s played together in international ball. Add a Kobe for sure; add a Michael Redd if he’s not having personal time. Even A McGrady, if he hasn’t fully morphed into Penny Hardaway at that point.

Point is – keep these guys together, and freaking play Dwight Howard more. Anyway, there are much smarter people than us who’ll have plenty to say about this for the next two years.

As for the championship game between Spain and Greece, turns out Pau! getting carried off the court the other day wasn’t a celebration – it was a broken foot. He won’t play, and the Memphis Grizzlies are having a collective “swear word time” at the arena tonight – five bucks to get in.
