Having long been our pick for “most insane person in the NBA”, we weren’t all that surprised to see that Pacers guard Stephen Jackson got in a little trouble last night.

When we say “a little trouble” what we’re really saying is that there’s no way we can describe it better than to just take it directly from the news account.

There’s something very funny about how they write this up - kinda like when ABC News has to describe sex acts in detail. There’s a certain tone that just can’t be replicated or added to.

Jackson, 28, told officers he fired his 9 mm pistol four or five times in the air in self-defense after he was punched and hit by a car outside the club, said Sgt. Matthew Mount, spokesman for the Indianapolis Police Department.

Jackson went up onto the hood of the car, Mount said.

Now, this all stemmed form an argument that went on inside the club, involving patrons, Jackson, and other members of the Pacers.

How thrilled is Larry Bird this morning? This was the year the insanity was supposed to be cleaned away completely. They were actually just going to play basketball this year, right?

Y’know, when we read this, it kinda dawned on us that even though we wrote the script to say otherwise, it really makes much more sense if Stephen Jackson shot Mamba.

It would only mean reshooting the last three episodes, and then reshooting most of the first three so that we can layer in the foreshadowing correctly.

It’ll only delay the thing like another two months or so, although we’d have to get Stephen Jackson to agree. Of course, there’s a 90% he’d shoot us on the set, and then we’d be dead.

At least the movie would be done, though, right?

NOTE: As if this needs to be said, this took place outside a strip club, and they also found pot in the Pacer-mobile.

i hope bird lives up to his word and moves these players. i think the only way this is going to get better in the long run is if the league makes it clear that players who get involved in this crap will not have a place in the nba. for millions of dollars a year and a position as a celebrity, they should be extremely careful and responsible. this type of thing is anything but. guns, strippers, fighting, and drugs. real nice, guys.
