Carmelo Anthony is ejected

We have a feeling we’re about to have a string of posts with the title “so-and-so is ejected”, except instead of so-and-so, there’ll be the name of a player – likely one who was ejected the previous night.

The latest victim of the referee fury is newly re-anointed golden boy of the Denver Nuggets and YAY favorite Carmelo Anthony, who got his second technical when he tossed his headband in the Nugs’ loss to the Clippers last night.

We saw this as it happened – he seemed to be tossing it in front of himself as he went to the bench.

Not only that, but he seemed to be tossing it out of frustration with his own poor shooting night. Our read is that it had nothing to do with complaining to a ref.

“The referees, they have new edicts we have to figure out,” Nuggets coach George Karl said. “We get stuck with a game we probably would have won with Melo. But we’ve got to play within the edicts and be a little smarter and a little more mature.”

Karl said after the game he had not yet spoken to Anthony. “It will be between he and I. I think he understands we need him on the court.”

You can never be sure of what exactly Melo understands and doesn’t understand, so make sure to have that chat, George.

Another chat you may want to have is with your point guard Andre Miller, who shot 0-11. After that, talk to forward Linas Kleiza, because we have no idea who that is.

Back to this new ref rule about no complaining. Again, we like it and support it, and will continue to do so until it affects the Cavaliers in a bad way. That’s when we’ll go on the offensive – probably in a manner best described as “blind rage”.

In the meantime, if you’re looking to protest this whole thing, you may want to jump over to Need4Sheed, where an official petition against this whole “civility on the court” movement is up and running.

You obviously won’t find our name on that – the day we support Rasheed Wallace is…c’mon, this goes without saying. We don’t need to type this sentence, even though what we were going to say is the funniest thing ever created on man’s Earth.

(NOTE: Anthony himself didn’t speak to the media after the game – apparently this is an unwritten rule among ejected players.)
