Rasheed Wallace is ejected

After Ben Wallace signed with Chicago, we floated (over and over again) a little theory that left-behind Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace would spend the season slowly but surely imploding, reverting to the distracting version of himself he was in Portland.

One game in may be too early to say “told you so”, but last night the Pistons lost to the Bucks and Sheed was ejected after receiving two technical fouls.

Apparently he was determined to make sure that “no complaining to the refs” rule does indeed get tagged with his name. His thoughts?

Unavailable - he left without speaking to reporters. Let’s make something up, then.

“I’m gonna destroy this season for Detroit. Between my ineffective interior defense and my resistance to Flip Saunders non-coaching, it’s all gonna fall apart,” Wallace said.

“Come drive the lane on us. It’s for a good cause.”

No word if Ben Wallace was watching intensely with his new band of intense CHI defenders.

Getting back to that rule, we love it - two nights of the NBA season, but there’s been a noticable difference in the flow of the games.

You realize it when you start noticing guys not complaining, while you are at home, doubly so when you use italics Nice stuff, although we’re sure there’s going to be some quick, controversial Ts thrown out somewhere that arguably costs someone a close game.

We’ll deal with that when it happens - for now, let’s just sit back and bask in the glow of correct predictions, Cavalier teams in first place, and Mike Bibby going all non-gang to earn an ejection of his very own in the Kings loss to the Timberwolves.

Oh…those were quick Ts late in the fourth quarter of a close game. Are we still required to deal with it? We think we’ve reached our word limit already. We can’t do it - sorry.

You love to jone don’t you Cav? 1 game into the season and here we go…

Nice defense on Brendan Haywood…if I were you, I’d worry about low-tier centers dominating Varejao and Z rather than worrying about Sheed.

Ben Wallace was busy putting up 4-5-0 against the Magic. The Bulls’ tough interior defense did hold Dwight Howard to a quiet 27 and 11, though.

How about those 70 points in the paint for Milwaukee? They won’t miss Ben’s post D at all!

My bias aside, I’d say the Pistons first game without Ben is a legit thing worth covering, and one of the more interesting things that happened last night.

Here he goes with what? Have you failed to notice that he’s like this all the time.

And Rasheed is hilarious.

Ben Wallace was the team leader and their anchor on defense. They are really going to miss him. The only thing that confuses me is how they let guys like Okur and Darko go so that they could afford to re-sign their players and then they didn’t do it…Weird!

I couldn’t get enough out of it but Joe Dumars said in the paper the other day he was going to handle Billups’ free agency the same way he handled Ben’s.

I thought maybe he should’ve clarified exactly what he meant by that.

I think he meant that he was going to offer Chauncey less money than somebody else (the Cavs?) and then sign Speedy Claxton as point guard.
