I think he meant that he was going to offer Chauncey less money than somebody else (the Cavs?) and then sign Speedy Claxton as point guard.

I couldn’t get enough out of it but Joe Dumars said in the paper the other day he was going to handle Billups’ free agency the same way he handled Ben’s.

I thought maybe he should’ve clarified exactly what he meant by that.

Ben Wallace was the team leader and their anchor on defense. They are really going to miss him. The only thing that confuses me is how they let guys like Okur and Darko go so that they could afford to re-sign their players and then they didn’t do it…Weird!

My bias aside, I’d say the Pistons first game without Ben is a legit thing worth covering, and one of the more interesting things that happened last night.

Ben Wallace was busy putting up 4-5-0 against the Magic. The Bulls’ tough interior defense did hold Dwight Howard to a quiet 27 and 11, though.

Nice defense on Brendan Haywood…if I were you, I’d worry about low-tier centers dominating Varejao and Z rather than worrying about Sheed.
