Allen Iverson is playing the Seventy-Sixers

by The Cavalier on January 2, 2007

We already wrote one entire version of this post, and thanks to our skill with the ALL-NEW WORDPRESS, we totally erased it and were left empty-screened.

Thus, we move forward, and attempt to rewrite the entry. Of course, none of this introductory information about how we already wrote this post was included in the previous version.

We hope you can set that aside and instead focus on the following exclusive announcment:

Tonight, Allen Iverson will face his former team, the Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers, for the first time since the trade. It all goes down in Denver, which means this isn’t quite the game we want to see.

Seventy-Sixers Head Coach Maurice Cheeks attempts to downplay the significance by not saying anything of significance – a worthy strategy, although it seems to also be his strategy in every other situation, including team huddles and crucial halftime speeches.

“Very obviously, it’s going to be different,” the coach said.

“I respect the guy a great deal. I have no hard feelings toward him. I wish him a lot of success except [tonight]. But I have no ill feelings against him at all. I still respect him as a player and a person. It’s just that the player-coach relationship doesn’t always go smoothly.”

There’s no need to point to the big question for tonight’s match, but let’s do it anyway: how many points will AI go for tonight?

Or, will he set aside the need for great scoring and go for the “I’m gonna show my former team what a great, sharing teammate I am” tactic?

We’re guessing he tries that, then after it backfires on the first possession of the game, he makes a move on at least a 50-spot.

If you’re looking to watch the game, you’re gonna need to fire up the League Pass, because NBATV is monopolized by our personal hell of Spurs at Cavaliers.

Our personal CLE allegiance forces us to watch as Gregg Popovich looks at his former protege Mike Brown and mouths “You’re doing it wrong” over and over and over for 48 straight minutes.
