Artest and Bibby are rumored Cavaliers

We’re not one to spread rumors and gossip, except for when we feel like it.
This is one of those times, however, so depending on your thoughts on rumor and/or gossip, you’re either going to be mad, happy, or indifferent on this one.
Reader Mitch sent us an email alerting us to the following potential Cavaliers trade floating around over on this Cavs message board, via Cleveland radio.
Bibby, Artest
for
Gooden, Boobie, HughesIt also works salary wise.
Take it for what it’s worth:from the web:

Word around the campfire is Ferry is in talks with Sacramento as we speak. Their talking Gibson, Gooden and Hughes for Artest and Bibby. Heard it on Roda. I guess Artest would love to play with Lebron, and we know he wants out of Sac-town.
Both Mitch and I agree that this trade is a go. It would definitely suck to give up Boobie, but Bibby is a perfect fit for what the Cavs need, and he’s only 28 or whatever.
We submit that his downgraded play this season is due to the overall bad atmosphere in Sacramento.
That is, of course, the smaller issue here. The real question mark is Ron Artest, and how he’d react to all of this.
What we’re thinking is that whatever he brings has to be better than what Larry Hughes is chucking up on nightly basis, at about half the price. Beyond that, Ron seems to be the type who goes out of his way to behave for at least 6 months after a trade, so we’re in.
We do wonder what SAC would get out of this, however. Why would they consider Hughes when they’ve got Kevin Martin? Maybe they’re gonna play him at PG? Maybe this is all just internet garbage people like us are tossing around out of boredom?
That said, don’t forget this was on the radio, which is like 10x more real.
(All the basketball aside, having Team Dime in Cleveland automatically makes them the #1 non-gang in town.)

I think it would be a good trade for Cleveland. It may even boost them up to “front runners” in the East. If Bibby opts out of his deal though, you’re back where you started. Also, if you bring Anderson Varejao in to start you’re losing any depth you had on the front line.
Who’s going to stop McDyess or their opponent’s 6th man off the bench? Donyell Marshall? That’s about it for your big guys coming off the bench. Scott Pollard definitely isn’t the answer either. But hey, if you want a small team running around I say do it. I doubt the Kings will pull that trade because they’re getting nothing really in return, but this is the NBA and well, the way the trades work don’t make sense sometimes.
That trade won’t happen for many reasons whether or not the salaries match up or not. A)Sac-town is looking to get rid of Bibby OR Artest, not both of them, B)Sac-town already have a bunch of PF’s in Abdur-Rahim, Thomas, Williamson, etc; to add Gooden wouldn’t make sense, C)As noted above, this would leave Sac-town without a point guard as the ‘Jason Hart Experience” didn’t work out well for them last season and ‘Boobie’, while he has played well at times, hasn’t shown enough to be trusted to run an NBA offense on a regular basis, D)As noted above, Sac-town already has a good SG and Hughes can’t play PG.
Nevertheless, all Bulls fans are hoping this trade happens so that Artest can ruin the season for another Central Divion rival (see: Pacers, Indiana). I understand that when you look at Artest’s stat line or when he plays on TNT, it looks like a good idea; but after watching him play extensively you know it’s just never going to work with whatever team he plays on.
Bibby is not the point guard the Cavs need.
LeBron needs a point guard like Chauncey Billups
This would be, like, the most lopsided trade since Vince Carter for Alonzo’s kidney stones.
I mean - the Kings get two overpaid journeymen and an untested rookie… And the Cavs get two potencial all stars.
Yeah, the Kings suck this season, but the trade value for Bibby and/or Artest can’t be THAT low. Even with all the crazyness, Artest is one of the top-30 best players in the league; Bibby is one of the top-10 point guards.
If the Cavs pull this through - we’re talking rings, man, we’re talking dinasty. Bibby-Bron-Ron Ron-Some person playing PF-Big Z - that’s your NBA champion right there.
Bibby and Artest would for sure turn up our swag, but the Kings organization would have to have a pile of crack rocks on their desk to do a trade like this.
You’re talking rings? I made this trade last night on NBA Live ‘07 and the Cavs lost to the Heat in a simulated Eastern Conference Finals… so that means they’re not winning rings this year with that trade.
Artest is the TO of the NBA. He wouldn’t like playing 2nd fiddle to LBJ. No way Mike Brown can handle him- it doesn’t even seem like he can even get the guys he has to respect him.
Uhm… NBA Live ‘07? That’s how you judge, Boney?
Uhm… NBA Live ‘07? That’s how you judge, Boney? You have gotta be kidding me.
The issues are? Ron Artest plays SF same as LeBron and there right Sac has to many PFs already…. and the thought of Sac not wanting to get rid of Bibby, it is there choice he is a free agent… it would be a sign and trade for the Cavs only to frree up cash, other wise we would just out bid for him!!
