WHO SHOT MAMBA IPHONE

Coach Mike needs to go

by The Cavalier on January 24, 2007 · 13 comments

That’s it – it’s him or us.

Here’s everything you need to know about how we feel about the Cavaliers right now.

We got home this afternoon about 5:30 (Pacific Time), which means we were a little behind in the big Seventy-Sixers/Cavaliers matchup.

One TIVO activation later, we’re watching LeBron and co slog their way through another lazy-ass, uninspired first quarter. The Seventy-Sixers are showing more life, taking less freaking jump-shots, and keeping it close.

The Seventy-Sixers.

Unable to watch any longer, we hit the “live” button to hopefully skip right to the end of the fourth quarter. Bingo – Cavs are up three with like 17 seconds left.

“Hmm…looks like they’re gonna lose. Probably on a missed loose ball or a blown free throw.”

So what did we do then? We left and went to the gym.

Yes, we couldn’t bear to watch even 17 seconds of Cavalier basketball with the game on the line. If they don’t care we don’t care. They certainly play like they don’t care, especially since they ended up losing the game. To the Seventy-Sixers.

Despite putting up 38 last night, the upcoming SLAM interview with Bron makes it sound like he’s coasting. And he’s okay with it, too.

Awesome.

Whatever – we refuse to watch another Cavaliers game until they at least get rid of the man coaching the team or we hear they’ve legitimately tried for ten games in a row. Coach Mike can’t motivate anyone, he doesn’t utilize his players correctly, and blah blah blah who cares?

We can forgive almost anything except lack of effort. There’s no excuses for that.

(We’d dig up a quote, but it’d be something like “We’re tired from our trip,” or “We just need to figure this thing out,” or some other generic statement that Dan Gilbert apparently isn’t reading into at all.)

((Dan – this team is unwatchable. They’re horrendous and offensive, and not in a way that means “good at offense”.))

The elements of the tort of “Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress”

(1) outrageous conduct by [Coach Mike];

(2) [Coach Mike's] intention of causing or reckless disregard of the probability of causing emotional distress;

(3) [The Cavalier's] suffering severe or extreme emotional distress; and

(4) actual and proximate causation of the emotional distress by [Coach Mike's] outrageous conduct

—-

Please contact me to discuss the suit. The key? “Suprise witnesses” regarding “outrageous conduct”. The jury will *both* suprised and outraged. I’m telling you, you can’t lose!

Can I stand up on the stand and try to charge at someone? Anyone is fine – I just want to be held back and be screaming like Sean Penn in Mystic River.

perfect! and then, when the judge gets all angry i’ll start yelling, “you’re out of order! the whole system is out of order!”

i smell a double oscar!

If Coach Mike gets canned who are the candidates for replacing him? I’m assuming Keith Smart is no longer an assistant in the land of Cleve?

yeah, and Randy Wittman has landed on his feet elsewhere…

what was that earlier in the season Cav? Detroit beat a 76ers team without AI? The Cavs can’t even do that…

I don’t know. I know what you mean about LeBron, but he’s at least back to attacking the basket and going to the line 8 or 9 times a game (where his foul shot is disintegrating by day- he needs to rent The Shooter’s Touch starring Mark Price, where he can learn about BEEF – Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Follow-through and then Jesus after the shooting tips. The best is when Price asks a bunch of kids who wants to be a good free throw shooter and they all raise their hands. And then he asks, “Who wants to shoot 500 free throws a day?” And all the hands go down and you can see the shame on their little faces.)

The offense blows and all, but the thing I REALLY don’t understand is the PT. Bench their asses. That is the only hand you have over a guy. Sit him down. And please, play with Boobie for like 20/game. Eric Snow is not that good at defense. To outweigh his god-awful O, he’d have to jedi-mind trick the man he was defending into scoring like 15 – for the Cavs.

And where is Ira Newble? We need a “defensive stopper”!

Boney isn’t it kinda pointless to rip the Cavs as if it will hurt me when I just said I won’t even watch them anymore? We agree about them…you see?

29 of 50 from three point land?
That is crazy!

Just piling on a bit, that’s all The Cavalier. I agree, it’s frustrating to see a team built around 1 superstar stand around on the offensive end and watch said superstar try to win it himself…

That’s why I watch the Pistons…

Can anyone in the East really talk trash at this point? It’s a contest to find out who is going to lose to the Suns or Mavericks in the Finals. Whoopee!

Fios, look at the hottest teams in the league at this point last year… what did they win? regular season basketball games.

Look at the team that struggled through the season. What did they get? Rings.

Regular season means nothing in the playoffs. If you get a playoff spot, yur in, thats it. Its just up to the team to play HARD and CONSISTENTLY to win. PHX suns are awesome regular season team, can’t get over the edge. Last season, if Detroit played as awesome as they usually were, Cav’s wouldn’t be partying about getting so far. Just hope Lebron won’t pull a Shaq ouchie to miss as many regular season games as possible and then turn it on in the playoffs.

Boney, the four teams in the Western and Eastern conference finals last year were in the top 5 in the league in regular season records. I agree that it’s somewhat difficult to forecast the playoffs at this point in the regular season but the West seems particularly dominant this year, even more so than in past seasons. If I turn out to be incorrect, fine, certainly won’t be the first time but I think this is shaping up to be another season in which whoever comes out of the East will earn the fun distinction of second-best.
